HSE Lead

As the HSE Leader you will be responsible for leading the HSE Department to provide a service to Manufacturing, Maintenance and other work groups to ensure ever improving Health, Safety and Environmental performance based on effective and legally compliant Management Systems.


Responsibilities of the HSE Leader:



  • Accountable for driving change and developing the culture across the site.

  • Accountable for the Compliance Plan process including development and implementation of plan for regular interactions with all relevant regulatory bodies.

    Spearheads the interface with the community and regulator for Health, Safety & Environmental related issues.

  • Coach and develop Health, Safety & Environmental Department and broader site team on relevant vision and goals.

  • Manages the development and implementation of a plan to achieve Best Practice performance aligned with business and site Health, Safety & Environmental targets.

    Sets Site HSE KPIs and improvement plans to continually improve.

  • In conjunction with the various specialists, develop a comprehensive Health, Safety & Environmental training and competency programme for the site.

  • Actively involved in conducting and reviewing Health, Safety & Environmental related RCAs to ensure that root causes are correctly identified and addressed at the management system level.

    Feeds back analysis of management system failures to the Site Leadership Team to identify improvement opportunities.

  • Searches for and implements Health, Safety & Environmental Best Practices and actively shares learnings and improvements within Site, Region and Globally.


To be successful as the HSE Leader you will be qualified to NEBOSH Diploma level or equivalent.

The successful candidate will hold 15-20 years' experience working within a high hazard chemical manufacturing operation, ideally on a COMAH site (or equivalent).

Experience utilising key PS and investigation tools such as HAZID, HAZOP, LOPA, HFA & RCA is essential.

Finally, good communication skills are paramount to the success of this role, the role requires engagement of key stakeholders (shopfloor to board level executives) throughout the organisation.
