Role: Pensions Lead
Location: Martlesham
Pay: £15.74 Umbrella

Principal purpose of the role
To work as part of the SSTC People Transactions Team (Payroll) to lead the implementation of the
Pension Remedy for public service pensions

Main activities of the role (This list is not exhaustive)

• Act as the key contact in all matters relating to Pension Remedy


• Full understanding of the complex issues resulting from the Legislation


• Provide guidance to all affected officers/ex-officers/pensioners


• Provide Policy decision documents for Senior Managers for all required decisions


• Appraise Chief Officers of any risks arising and monitor existing risks


• Act as liaison point for XPS Penson administrators for all remedy matters


• Act as contact for Local Government Scheme for any remedy matters


• Attend national NPCC meetings as required and provide updates for Senior Managers


• Act a lead at local Pension Remedy Board meetings


• Ensure that all tax liabilities resulting from Remedy are declared to HMRC


• Manage all payroll inputs /adjustments required from Remedy actions


• Provide XPS with data using reporting tools as required to enable Remedy actions to be undertaken

Essential Criteria

• Proven experience of working in a payroll/pensions transactional environment


• Proven technical police and LGPS pensions knowledge and ability to apply HMRC statutory regulations


• Ability to interpret legislation, national guidance for example in respect of pension and pay regulations


• Proven experience of writing, interpreting and implementing policies


• Ability to work to strict deadlines


• Demonstrate good written and oral communication skills


• Proven experience of supervising staff


• Advanced knowledge of Microsoft products such as Excel and reporting tools Desirable Criteria


• Experience of public sector finances
