IT Support Engineer (Network)

IT Support Engineer (Network) - Permanent - Northamptonshire, UK - Hybrid
£36,000 per year



This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced administrator to join a close-knit IT department as a service desk engineer.

The successful candidate will have a particular focus on networking, responsible for responding to support requests, maintaining LAN network, and leading small projects to improve infrastructure.



This role would suit an IT administrator with previous experience supporting LANs who is looking to develop, and be responsible for an on-premise data and voice infrastructure.



We are working with a client who is a global manufacturer, supplying many industries.

They have been a major player in this market for over 100 years, and are leaders in their field.



The responsibilities of the role include:



  • Provide remote, 2nd line support for three Scandinavian locations

  • Assist local IT department colleagues with service desk tickets

  • Maintenance of switches, cabling, wireless access points as well as, IP telephony, WAN and mobile phone connections

  • Working in cohesion with the global IT team and suppliers for firewall configuration

  • Propose and lead improvements to network infrastructure

  • Update and maintain documentation related to networking, telephony and communication solutions


The requirements of this role include:



  • IT relevant qualification or good experience of working in an IT support Engineer role

  • Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) & Aruba Certified Switching Associate (ACSA)

  • Experience with LAN networking, telephony and IT support

  • In-depth knowledge of TCP/IP, DHCP, VLANs, and switches

  • Experience with network security protocols and firewalls

  • Excellent trouble shooting skills

  • Great communication skills with users at all levels

  • Able to work with discretion, great organisational skills and confident independent worker

  • Self-motivated with a hands on approach

  • Ability to adapt to a changing environment

  • Occasional Out of Hours working if required
