Goods In Supervisor

As Goods In Supervisor you will be joining a long-standing, highly recognised organisation, on a permanent, full time basis (Monday - Friday) in Stockport.

The purpose of the role is to execute all goods in activities including receiving, put away, cycle counts and warehouse stock control thereby supporting all business units to achieve the targets and objectives defined.

You will be managing a team of six people, requiring you to be “hands on” and involved in supporting them when needed, as well as being able to stand back and be strategic in your approach.


As Goods In Supervisor, you will be responsible for:



  • Managing the goods in team and ad hoc projects

  • Monitoring and reporting the KPIs for individuals and each team

  • Using information to take actions to improve current targets

  • Coordinating corrective actions for issues caused by deviations from agreed processes

  • Leading and/or supporting projects in Warehouse

  • Providing first point of contact for equipment breakdowns, investigate the problem, resolving if possible, if not contacting the relevant engineers in to resolve

  • Reviewing and maintaining critical processes

  • Being a key member of the warehouse leadership team

  • Ensuring talent within the Goods In team is developed and aligned to continue to exceed the high-performance expectations of our business

  • Controlling the security and accuracy of the Company's fixed asset

  • Implementing all new and existing operational policies and procedures

  • Interacting with all other departments as necessary to ensure customer expectations are exceeded

  • Ensuring all Health and Safety requirements are achieved

  • Ensuring staff levels meet the requirements of the activities

  • Providing reporting to operations on the daily warehouse activates

  • Supervising the cycle counts and ensure the processes in place are followed and carried out to the auditors expectations

  • Ensuring a high level of stock control and accuracy in line with policies

  • Carrying out investigations & disciplinary hearings as required in line with company policies

  • Ensuring all quality, productivity, budget targets and KPIs are exceeded

  • Budgetary management and control

  • Control of despatch manpower planning levels

  • Dealing directly with HR on all personnel issues

  • Driving SAP optimisation

  • Creating a lean culture for continuous improvement


As Goods In Supervisor you must be / have:



  • Previous supervisory or management experience essential

  • Experience of operating PI and other stock management regimes

  • Knowledge / experience of working in a small part distribution environment

  • SAP expert knowledge and understand ways to optimise

  • Full driving licence

  • Excellent organisational & planning skills

  • Experience in managing and motivating a team in a challenging environment.

  • Strong interpersonal skills and a confidant communicator at all levels.

  • A positive “can do” attitude and enthusiasm to succeed

  • Flexibility regarding working hours

  • Ability to write reports and correspondence

  • Preparation of statistical data

  • Problem solving skills.

  • Ability to prioritise and manage many projects at once

  • Understand Lean techniques and train others


Physical Demands



  • Lifting and carrying (some heavy)

  • Standing and walking for long periods

  • Use of ladders

  • Use of manual handling equipment

  • 12 direct reports

  • inventory value of £1.6m

  • Over 10,000 stocked parts

  • 35,000 Sq ft facility

  • Operating 5 days per week, between 7am - 7pm

  • 90% of distribution National (UK) 10% export
