Litigation Officer

Service Care Legal are recruiting on behalf of a London Borough Council who are seeking a Litigation Officer to join their team on a contract basis.

ROLE: Litigation Officer
LOCATION: South London
RATE: £130 to £150 per day
CONTRACT: 3 months ongoing

The Role

• To manage the day-to-day handling of the income recovery process, including court action, for service charge debt


• Drafting a variety of instructions to counsel, seeking and providing legal advice relating to, amongst other things, the Building Safety Act (2022)


• Implementation with service charge recovery, breaches of lease and compliance with service charge legislation


• Responsibility for communicating with homeowners and the Courts for cases in their portfolio, that evidence and documentation is accurate and complete

The Person

• Excellent knowledge of both statutory and relevant case law on service charges


• To represent the council in court and at the First Tier Tribunal when required


• Detailed knowledge of the pertinent Landlord and tenants Acts, Housing Acts, local Government, Finance and Data Protection acts


• Previous local authority experience would be considered essential for this position
