Must have a Level 3 in Children & Young People's Workforce / NVQ L3 in Health and Social Care

Must have at least 6 months of experience working with children and young people

Fully flexible contracts days or nights

£12.10 per hour

We are currently looking for a hardworking, caring, compassionate Senior Residential Childcare Officer to join our friendly residential service, based in Backworth.

We create a homely environment where children will feel safe, secure, and nurtured in their critical formative years, enabling them to build resilience and develop into adults who are not disadvantaged by their history. As a Senior Residential Childcare Officer, you’ll assist individually and as part of a team to help young people with emotional, behavioural, and learning disabilities achieve their full potential. 

We are looking for a Residential Childcare Officer who is compassionate, caring and prepared to go the extra mile for our young people, lead the shift and take responsibility.


Our ideal Senior Residential Childcare Officer will: -


  • Work as a team player. 
  • Care planning for each young person.
  • Promote every young person’s rights and safeguard their welfare.
  • Ensure all staff work within young people’s care, behaviour, and medical plans.
  • Promote every young person’s rights and safeguard their welfare.
  • Establish and promote professional relationships with parents and outside agencies.
  • Assist the home / deputy in development of the team.
  • Demonstrate confidence and calmness in challenging situations. 
  • Be able to recognise and identify problems and take appropriate action. 
  • Be able to be self-motivated and accept and take on levels of responsibility where necessary. 
  • Demonstrate the ability to deal with Young People physical, medical, emotional, and behavioural needs as well as provide individual support as appropriate. 
  • Ability to take direction from others and to learn from own experience to develop and improve practice. 

Requirements of the Role:  

The key attributes and resilience, for working with children with a Learning disability (LD) as well as managing challenging behaviour they may present.  


  • Understand the importance of providing a stable environment for children 
  • Experience working with children with Social, Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties 
  • At least 6 months experience within the last 3 years of working with children and young people
