Social Worker

The Role

A Local Authority is looking for a Social Worker to join their Adult Social Services around the Southend area.

As the Social Worker, you will be part of the Community Team and have a passion for ensuring quality social work practice and working with partners to make sure commissioned services are safe, fit for purpose and lead on safeguarding enquires to support people to live lives free from harm.

The successful candidate will work as part of multi-disciplinary team to support people to live full lives whilst managing a case load.

The Southend region employs around 1,600 staff to provide a huge range of high-quality services to meet the needs of local people.

This is for a full-time, permanent position.

Main Responsibilities:

  • You must have confidence in multi-agency working and a passion for supporting people to lead the best lives possible.

  • You will be accountable for working within the statutory legal framework, policy and guidance and determining when the threshold for statutory intervention has been reached.

  • To manage an agreed case load, offer support and guidance and monitor, review and reassess care packages/services to ensure continued effectiveness.

  • Working as part of a supportive team to work with individuals to promote and support independence choice and control with wellbeing at the heart of every case.

  • Conducting individual complex assessments and safeguarding enquiries using the appropriate tools and techniques in order to establish clear, relevant, proportionate and appropriate options for the individual to meet their identified outcomes.

  • Work with individuals and families in an outcome focused way using a strength-based approach.

  • Be current and up to date with knowledge of research, policies, and best practice.

  • Work to the highest of professional standards so that service users can live more independent and fulfilling lives.

  • Identify the needs and desired outcomes with people and carers giving choice and control over the services whilst promoting independence.

  • Support people to live full lives free from harm whilst managing a case load.


Skills and Qualifications Required

  • A Recognised Social Work qualification (Degree/DipSW/CQSW).

  • A valid registration with Social Work England.

  • Significant experience working with Vulnerable Adults.

  • Must hold a full UK Driving License and use of a vehicle.

£34,723-£40,478.
