Band 6 Substance Misuse Nurse – Full Time, Permanent (35 hours per week) – Surrey (Coldingley and Send) - £35,392.00 - £42,618.00 per annum.

Role Overview – Band 6 Substance Misuse Nurse:
As a Substance Misuse Nurse you will play a pivotal role in delivering nursing care and psychosocial interventions to patients admitted to our service.
You will utilize evidence-based practices, clinical protocols, and policies to provide comprehensive care tailored to the clinical needs of each patient.
Operating within a custodial framework, you will also be well-versed in matters of security and safety.

Key Responsibilities – Band 6 Substance Misuse Nurse:
- Delivering interventions and support to drug and alcohol users with complex needs, contributing to their recovery plans.
- Undertaking tasks such as triage, assessment, administration of controlled drugs and prescribed medications, group facilitation, and conducting 1:1 key working sessions.
- Participating in thorough assessment of patient care requirements, upholding high standards of care in line with prison philosophy, Forward policies, and procedures.
- Crafting, implementing, and assessing individualized care programs using a problem-solving approach, ensuring continuity of care from admission to transfer or discharge.
- Contributing to the training of external stakeholders on substance misuse issues.
Qualifications and Requirements – Band 6 Substance Misuse Nurse:
- Minimum of 2 years post-registration experience.
- Proficiency in maintaining accurate patient records according to local standards, The Forward Trust, and NMC guidelines.
- Current registration as a Registered General Nurse or Mental Health Nurse.
- Working knowledge of SystmOne.
- Knowledge of the safe storage and administration of medication.
- Ability to assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care.
