Financial Controller – Hospitality and Leisure Group   

Role:                    Financial Controller

Location:            Edinburgh

Salary:                 45,000

I’m working with one of the market leader groups in catering and food service.

They have been the benchmark of contracted catering and B&I for several years now.

This role sits within a very prestigious client and operates as a stand-alone.

You’ll be working as part of a small team, and you will have exposure to many elements of their business.

The role would suit an ambitious, motivated individual who enjoys the hospitality sector, loves working in a team and is looking for a challenging, long-term position.

The role reports to the General Manager and will predominantly be field-based, supporting the operations teams to drive performance across their contract portfolio.

Job Responsibilities:


  • Business partnering with the onsite operations team.
  • Consistent weekly reporting of sales, gross profit, labour, and overheads for each profit centre.
  • Insights on high/low margin products and recommendations to improve profitability.
  • Focus on purchasing compliance and identifying opportunities to improve profitability (switch & and save of products/suppliers etc.).
  • Assess overall finance compliance (cash control, till readings vs.

    insight etc) and provide recommendations for improvements.
  • Provide decision support to initiatives and projects supporting the delivery of targets through insightful analysis and idea generation.
  • Providing interpretation and challenge to current & and future trading plans.
  • Prepare the financial planning and budgeting process within timescales.
  • Support colleagues across the business in developing financial awareness.

The Perfect Candidate:

•             Strong analytical capabilities coupled with successful business partnering

•             High attention to detail.

•             Ability to work on own initiative, effectively prioritise and manage workload, and meet tight deadlines.

•             Excellent communication skills with people at all levels in the organisation.

•             Intermediate to advanced Excel skills – including pivot tables, formulae, lookup tables, and 'if' statements & comfortable with multi-workbook reporting.
