We are partnering with an Australian owned Electrical Engineering company located in Bendigo.

This family business specialises in the design, construction, programming, and commissioning of electrical control systems for OEMs and builders throughout Australia.

As a control provider, they stand out in Australia for their reliability, thanks to their quick response times, vast industry experience, and advanced engineering and manufacturing processes.

The company has a well-defined plan and a strong pipeline of projects.

What types of projects does our client deliver?
Design, construction, testing, programming, onsite and remote commissioning, and integration for projects ranging from $150,000 to $800 million + AUD, examples include:

  • Motor Control Centre for a Water Treatment Plant

  • Main motor control centre for a packaged dewatering plant

  • Switchboard for a potable water treatment plant

  • New packaged pump station and the associated pipework for a storage basin

  • Motor control centre for a sewage treatment plant centrifuge system

  • Control Panel for Water Treatment Plant

What is the opportunity?
We have opened a brand-new position seeking an ambitious and outcome-driven Business Development Manager.

This role holds significant importance in aiding a thriving family-owned business, which is a leader in its market, to double its revenue over the next three years.

Your primary responsibilities will encompass cultivating robust rapports with potential clients, particularly Project Managers and those involved in wastewater projects.

Your role will involve skilful negotiation and finalisation of contracts for recurring projects, all while achieving specified financial objectives.

We value your background in selling projects within an industrial environment, especially your enthusiasm for enhancing your expertise in the realm of electrical engineering.
This position centres around offering solutions and revolves around project management.

You'll receive support from our estimating, sales, and marketing teams to create compelling proposals that stand out.Overseeing a nationwide portfolio, with an initial focus on the regions of NSW, VIC, and QLD, you'll need to travel frequently.

To accommodate this, we offer flexible work arrangements that allow you to optimize your time spent with clients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Liaise with target customers via phone, email, text, Zoom/Teams calls, face-to-face, to build strong relationships and generate RFQs

  • Advise estimating team on detail and package required for each project/client

  • Follow up of quotes & projects to track progress, build rapport, negotiate and close order

  • Meet or exceed sales targets set by the Management, contributing to the growth and profitability

  • Provide pre-sales technical assistance to clients, including conducting product demonstrations, addressing inquiries, and delivering presentations

  • Offer after-sales support to key clients, ensuring their satisfaction and building long-term relationships

  • Collaborate closely with the Engineering and Production teams to ensure timely fulfillment of orders and smooth project execution

  • Prepare comprehensive sales reports on a weekly and monthly basis, highlighting key metrics, market trends, and recommendations for improvement

The ‘Ideal' person will have:

  • Several years successful sales experience in B2B engineering/industrial environment

  • An electrical background (trade or engineering) is advantageous

  • Previous experience with selling projects within an industrial setting

  • An understanding of water and / or wastewater projects is preferred

  • Hungry for sales and sales growth and keen to upskill in the electrical sector

  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts

  • Result-oriented mindset with a proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets

  • Proficiency in MS Office and CRM software
