Position: Information Officer
Client: Metropolitan Police Service
Location: Empress State Building
Job Summary: We are seeking a dedicated Information Officer to join the Met Police's Compliance and Assurance (C&A) Pillar.
In this role, you will play a crucial part in providing administrative support to the Information Access Team (IAT) to ensure the timely processing of Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) and Right of Access Requests (ROAR).
You will work closely with the Met Police's Specialist Operations Command Units and other relevant units.
This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to the efficient operation of one of the UK's most prestigious law enforcement agencies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain up-to-date FOIA and ROAR Excel databases, ensuring all requests are accurately recorded and responded to within specified deadlines.
- Monitor the unit mailbox and promptly act on incoming requests.
- Validate requests by assessing them against legal requirements.
- Identify requests that may require early resolution.
- Conduct prior research using databases and web-based resources to locate publicly available information.
- Liaise with applicants in writing and document interactions in relevant systems.
- Follow up on requests to ensure timely receipt of requested information.
- Serve as a point of contact for both internal and external stakeholders.
- Respond to queries and escalate issues when necessary.
- Provide guidance on FOIA and ROARs to officers and staff with the support of line management.
- Deputize for the Information Manager as needed.
- Perform any other ad hoc duties as required.
Key Requirements:
- Basic knowledge of the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (FOIA).
- Basic knowledge of the Data Protection Act 1998 & 2018.
- Basic knowledge of the General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR).
- Proven ability to manage competing demands, meet deadlines, and maintain a high standard of work.
- Ability to remain calm while working under pressure and without direct supervision.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Experience in managing databases.
- Proven ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both in writing and verbally, with senior stakeholders and staff at all levels.
- Proactive and able to use own initiative.
- Competent in the use of Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.

Desirable Qualifications:
- Understanding of CTP Network/Specialist Operations.
- Knowledge of MPS units and contacts for obtaining relevant information.
- Familiarity with MPS systems (e.g., CRIS, CRIMINT, IIP, CONNNECT, etc.).
- CycFreedom trained or willingness to undergo training.
