Salary: £37,700 + Excellent Benefits

Full - Time / Part - Time, Permanent (36 Hours)

The Client:

They champion historical sites, promote understanding, appreciation, and conservation initiatives.

The Role:

As an Architect / Surveyor, youll join their regional Partnerships team, influencing the conservation of national heritage assets.

Your expertise will guide proposals for repair, alteration, and change in historic townscapes and landscapes.

This role requires site visits involving climbing scaffolding and confined spaces.

Community meetings may occur outside regular working hours.


* Assess grant applications and Heritage at Risk projects, evaluate specifications and drawings, and recommend suitable actions.

* Collaborate creatively with partners on repair and alteration initiatives, ensuring sustainability.

* Monitor grant-aided work, ensuring it meets required standards, recommend grant payments, and conduct post-grant monitoring.

* Provide urban design advice to enhance the historic environments role in areas undergoing change.

* Advise on urban design and technical aspects for listed buildings in regional teams, collaborating with national Technical Conservation Team support.

* Advocate for the positive impact of constructive conservation in local areas


* Previous experience working as a Risk Surveyor, Heritage Consultant or in a similar role.

* Hold a professional qualification in architecture or building surveying with active ARB registration or chartered RICS membership.

* Possess accreditation in building conservation (AABC, RIBA SCA level, or RICS), or demonstrate active progress toward it.

* Have substantial experience in repairing historic buildings and managing projects effectively.

* Demonstrate in-depth knowledge of English secular and ecclesiastical architecture, Conservation Principles, and historic building construction techniques.

* Exhibit practical and creative problem-solving abilities for addressing repair challenges.

* Maintain a good understanding of current construction industry regulations pertaining to historic buildings and monuments.

* Frequent travel to various sites.
