Hunter Executive Search Consultants are working in partnership with Huhtamaki a leading global provider of sustainable packaging solutions for consumers around the world.

Huhtamki is a foodservice packaging distribution and wholesaler, with offices and distribution warehouses in five states across Australia, employing more than 130 people.

With approx 2500 product lines it is now one of the largest importers and distributors of foodservice packaging in Australia.

About the role
Huhtamaki are actively seeking a State Manager to drive sales and lead tme significant changes in the last 12 months, heir esteemed team at their Perth facility.
You will lead the state operations and create, manage and implement plans to deliver or exceed commercial, operational, and financial targets.

You will lead the sales and business strategies for your state, contributing to a successful and profitability of the business.

To succeed, you will lead the channel plans, build strong customer relationships, and promote and expand their product offering to deliver profitable sales.

You will oversee the running of the site which comprises of 17 employees of which include 3 sales representatives and warehouse.

The Kewdale facility is valued around $30Million AUD - Averaging 20% year on year for the last 7 years of which consists of 10% organic growth.

About you

  • Extensive experience in packaging wholesale, retail or similar industry in a general management of sales leadership capacity

  • Strong sales with people leadership background

  • Good understanding of the Australian market

  • Experience in a local subsidiary of and offshore multinational highly regarded

    • Entrepreneurial in driving growth

    • Excellent leadership, with strong stakeholder management skills

    • Strong people management skills

    • Real desire to take people with you

    • Comfortable with a change environment

Key responsibilities & accountabilities:

  • Manage the state P&L of around $30 Mill AUD, expenditure and trade spend within the agreed budgeted guidelines

  • Work closely with team and cross-functional stakeholders to develop sales forecasts across the State

  • Excellent leadership, with strong stakeholder management skills

  • Input into marketing activity and plans to maximise visibility and sales for the state

  • Establish best practice systems and processes to support the team to execute the strategy and deliver results

  • Set and track sales targets, align the key priorities, and hold self and others accountable for delivery of KPIs

  • Recruit, develop and lead a high-performing team, providing guidance, coaching, and performance feedback to build the key technical and leadership capabilities required for future success

  • Understand the P&L with strong track record of achieving and exceeding KPI's

  • Strong commercial acumen and agile in leading contracts, tenders and commercial negotiations with customers to achieve win-win outcomes.

  • Understand the market and anticipates trends, taking a long-term sustainable view to build the strategy, considering the impact in the broader business
