Consultant Psychiatrist

THE POSITION

Prison psychiatrists work as part of a multidisciplinary team to provide mental health assessment and care to a particularly vulnerable group of patients in a uniquely complex environment.

This position will be based at a metropolitan prison but may include providing care via video-conferencing and/or visiting regional prisons across Western Australia.

The psychiatrist, working with the MHAOD team, primary care, and custodial staff, undertakes psychiatric diagnostic assessment, plans treatment, and oversees care delivery for patients with mental illness and complex alcohol and drug problems.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS

Successful candidates will be required to meet the following criteria:

• Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (FRANZAP)


• Registered medical practitioner with specialist AHPRA registration


• Australian Working Rights
