Our client, an innovative sports analytics company, is seeking a visionary Head of Development to lead the advancement of their cutting-edge platform.

By using advanced analytics to transform sports data into actionable insights, this company is revolutionising how teams, athletes, and fans engage with the world of sport.

As the Head of Development, you will work closely with the Head of Product to shape and execute a technical roadmap that aligns with their product vision, ensuring both innovation and quality are at the heart of their development practices.



In this role, you will oversee engineering teams operating within a Microsoft environment, utilising technologies such as .NET, Azure, AWS and DevOps.

You will ensure the seamless integration of engineering strategies with wider business goals, continuously optimising the developer experience and enhancing the technical platform.

Key Responsibilities:



, Lead and mentor Engineering Managers and product engineering teams, ensuring the delivery of high-quality software solutions within a Microsoft-focused environment (.NET, Azure).


, Define and implement a clear technical strategy aligned with the product roadmap and OKRs, driving innovation in the field of sports analytics.


, Oversee the development of scalable, high-performance applications supporting a diverse portfolio of sports data products.


, Encourage cross-team collaboration and lead organisational change initiatives to ensure integration and alignment across departments.


, Mentor and develop engineering talent, ensuring teams are motivated, engaged, and delivering real customer impact.


, Act as a technical evangelist both internally and externally, presenting engineering innovations to stakeholders and at industry events.


, Leverage data and metrics to optimise workflows, maintain operational excellence, and ensure a competitive edge in the sports analytics market.


, Focus on continuous improvement throughout the software development lifecycle, following best industry practices within a Microsoft ecosystem.



Essential Skills:



, A deep passion for technical problem-solving with hands-on experience in Microsoft technologies (e.g., .NET, Azure).


, Strong leadership experience with a collaborative, servant-leadership approach to managing diverse teams.


, Ability to drive technical strategy and product delivery in a data-driven, sports analytics-focused environment.


, Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with both technical teams and C-level executives.


, Proven ability to coach, mentor, and develop engineering talent.


, Operational expertise with a focus on deterministic and probabilistic approaches to problem-solving in a data-centric context.



Desirable Skills:



, Hands-on coding experience in multiple programming languages, with an active GitHub profile.


, Strong passion for software quality, clean code principles, and technical craftsmanship.


, Experience leading engineering innovation in a risk-based environment.


, A passion for sports, with a deep understanding of how analytics and data impact team performance and strategy.



Location: London / Hybrid (1-2 days per week in the office)



Salary: £130,000+ per annum + Bonus + Benefits
