Job Title: Clinical Nurse Specialist (LARC Fitter) - Band 6 (£27) or Band 7 (£31)
Location: Garden Clinic, Upton Hospital, SL1 2BJ

Shift Pattern: Monday to Friday, 8:30am - 4:30pm (negotiable)


Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced and skilled Clinical Nurse Specialist (LARC Fitter) to join the Sexual Health Services team at Garden Clinic, Upton Hospital on an agency basis.

As a Clinical Nurse Specialist, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality, patient-centred care, specializing in Long-Acting Reversible Contraception (LARC) fitting and removal.

You will work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team to promote reproductive health, well-being, and choice.


Key Responsibilities:



  • Provide specialist nursing care, advice, and support to patients attending the clinic for LARC fittings and removals

  • Conduct comprehensive assessments, including medical history, to determine suitability for LARC methods

  • Fit and remove Intrauterine Devices (IUDs) and Implants, in accordance with national guidelines and best practices

  • Provide education and counselling on reproductive health, contraception, and sexual health, promoting informed choice and decision-making


  • Requirements:



  • Registered Nurse with a valid NMC registration

  • Specialist qualification in Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRH) or equivalent (mandatory)

  • Trained in fitting and removing Intrauterine Devices (IUDs) and Implants (mandatory)

  • Knowledge of reproductive health, including contraception, pregnancy, and sexual health (mandatory)

  • Experience working in a sexual health or reproductive health setting (desirable)

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with patients, families, and healthcare professionals

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team

  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage a caseload


  • Band 7 Requirements (in addition to the above):



  • Advanced clinical skills and knowledge in LARC fitting and removal

  • Experience in leading and managing a team, or willingness to take on leadership responsibilities

  • Ability to develop and implement service improvements, guidelines, and policies

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret data and inform service development
