Technical Director

A leading consultancy in London is currently looking for a Technical Director under Fire & Life Safety department for a permanent role with hybrid working.


Important Details:



  • Salary: £90,000-£100,000 per year (dependent on experience)

  • Location: Hybrid - Mon & Fri WFH, Tue-Thu in office or client sites

  • Reporting to: UK FLS Lead & UK MD

  • Package: Includes medical, pension, and visa sponsorship if required


Duties:



  • Oversee technical project delivery and lead all elements of fire & life safety engineering.

  • Manage multiple client relationships and support strategic business expansion.

  • Conduct QA/QC reviews and sign-off complex documents.

  • Mentor and develop the FLS team while supporting division growth.

  • Assist in securing new clients and projects, ensuring AESG is positioned as a trusted consultant.

  • Provide solutions for projects ranging from £100K to £1bn+ across residential, commercial, industrial, and infrastructure sectors, including Middle East projects using UK codes.


Qualifications Required:



  • Bachelor's or higher degree in Fire Safety, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.


MIFireE preferred; Chartered Engineer (IFE or equivalent) or in progress.



  • Minimum 15 years of fire & life safety design and engineering experience.

  • Strong technical expertise in BS7974, ADB, BS9991, BS9999, PAS 9980, Fire Test Standards, and Structural Fire Analysis.

  • Proficient in CFD, CFX, Bluebeam, AutoCAD, Revit, Rhino, and Finite Element Modelling.

  • Ability to conduct FRAEW risk appraisals and sign EWS1 forms.


Business Development & Project Management:



  • Identify market trends and opportunities in residential, commercial, and mixed-use sectors.

  • Build relationships with untapped clients and sectors for business growth.

  • Successfully deliver UK-led projects on time and within budget.

  • Ensure client retention and repeat business.

  • Maintain high staff satisfaction and retention of key employees.


HSE Responsibilities:



  • Promote a culture of safety, sustainability, and continuous improvement.

  • Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and environmental legal requirements.
