Teach Plus are currently working with a primary school located in Hanwell, Ealing who are seeking a SEN Teaching Assistant to support a child in KS1 who is non-verbal with complex needs.

The child benefits from communicating with Makaton and PECS, the role is a one-to-one position supporting the child inside and outside of the classroom.

The school is an Outstanding, 2-form entry primary school located in the heart of Ealing.

Senior leaders have high expectations of all pupils and staff across the school, they have designed an ambitious curriculum.

They have a clear understanding of all areas of improvements for pupils learning each year and implement strategies to improve areas of weakness.

There are lots of opportunities for further development and CPD courses for all members of staff.

As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will be expected to:

• Follow the class teacher and SENCO's direction in supporting the child both inside and outside the classroom


• Follow plans for activities and intervention sessions provided by the class teacher


• Support with learning


• Ensure the child feels supported and safe by having a warm and nurturing approach

The ideal candidate for the SEN Teaching Assistant role will have:

• Have experience working with children with SEND


• Ideally you would have experience working with children who are non-verbal


• Experience with Makaton and PECS


• The ability to build rapport with the child and be able to respond to the child's individual needs


• Follow direction from the class teacher, SENCO, external agencies such as Speech and Language Therapist
