Control/Panel Wirer
Control/Panel Wirer - Nottingham - circa £31,200 + Bonus + Benefits - Permanent
The primary purpose of this role is to wire and assemble MV switchgear & containerised substations to a high standard, following electrical schematics and layout drawings.
It involves preparing, routing, and connecting wires accurately, ensuring all work is correctly labelled and checked before testing.
This role is essential to delivering reliable, bespoke switchgear systems for critical engineering projects.

Responsibilities:
Prepare wires by cutting, stripping, and crimping them accurately to meet the specifications required for fitting into control and relay panels.
Follow and interpret electrical wiring schematics and general arrangement drawings to ensure all wiring is installed correctly and safely.
Label wires clearly and organise them neatly within panels to maintain easy identification and ensure compliance with quality standards.
Assemble and install wiring into control and relay panels with a high level of precision and attention to detail, ensuring a professional finish.
Conduct peer-to-peer checks by reviewing fellow panel wirers' work to verify accuracy and completeness prior to routine electrical testing.
Work closely with other members of the production team, including fitters and fabricators, to ensure smooth workflow and timely project completion.
Proactively identify any potential wiring faults or issues, communicating concerns clearly to supervisors and suggesting practical solutions or corrective actions.
Requirements:
Electrical Apprenticeship with relevant experience or equivalent career experience, or degree in Electrical Engineering (desirable)
MV (Medium Voltage) skillset is required, LV experience alone is not sufficient.
Wiring Expertise: Skilled in cutting, stripping, crimping, and wiring control/relay panels to a high standard.
Technical Interpretation: Able to read and follow electrical schematics and general arrangement (G/A) drawings.
Attention to Detail: Neat, accurate wiring and clear labelling; proactive in spotting and correcting faults.
Team Player: Works well with colleagues across production; communicates clearly and constructively.
