Salary: £30,000 to £36,000

Westgate House Care Centre, located in Ware, Hertfordshire, is part of a family-run, award-winning care home group.

We support elderly residents with a range of nursing needs.

While our home has 109 beds in total, it also features a dedicated 13-bed Intermediate Care Unit, complete with its own private rehabilitation gym.

We are now looking for a Band 5 Physiotherapist to join our multidisciplinary team on a full time, permanent basis.

You will work closely with other Westgate team members to support our elderly residents, usually discharged from hospital, to rehabilitate and return home with the right care package.

You’ll be responsible for managing your own group of residents, using specialist physiotherapy techniques to support their rehabilitation.

As part of the team, you will also provide leadership to the junior therapy assistants, helping to guide, supervise, and support their development and performance.

You’ll work closely with both internal and external professionals, such as Occupational Therapists, Doctors and Social Workers, meeting when necessary and sharing information to support our residents in reaching their goals.

About the role:


  • Take responsibility for managing a caseload of residents requiring rehabilitation—starting from initial assessment through to the development and delivery of personalised care plans
  • Collaborate with residents and the wider care team to set achievable goals and plan for a safe, timely discharge, including support for ongoing care when needed
  • Work closely with health and social care professionals, attending multidisciplinary meetings and case reviews to ensure coordinated support
  • Engage in reflective practice to support your ongoing professional growth and development
  • Lead, mentor and supervise junior therapy assistants
  • Support residents in achieving their recovery goals and improving their quality of life

About you:


  • Right to live and work in the UK
  • Degree in Physiotherapy and registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)
  • Good knowledge of Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) / Chartered Society of Physiotherapy codes of practice
  • Previous experience in a care home setting or working with older adults is desirable but not essential
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • A proactive, compassionate approach to care
