Position Overview


  • Provide expert psychiatric assessment, management, and treatment to forensic mental health clients within a community-based setting.




  • Contribute to services across correctional, criminal justice, and secure forensic inpatient environments as part of a comprehensive statewide model.




  • Work within a multidisciplinary team in a scenic, fast-growing location renowned for its lifestyle and natural beauty.




  • Participate in supervision, teaching, and liaison with GPs and other key stakeholders.




  • Support clinical leadership initiatives and contribute to quality improvement and service development across forensic mental health.





Job Details


  • Fixed-term part-time or full-time position, commencing early 2026, with long-term potential




  • Flexible work arrangements and supportive team culture




  • On-call responsibilities shared equitably within the team




  • Competitive Staff Specialist salary: $210,000 - $301,349 + 12% superannuation (pro rata)




  • Attractive package, including:




    • Motor vehicle allowance (pro rata)




    • CPD allowance




    • Relocation support up to $15,000




    • Salary packaging and generous leave entitlements







Essential Criteria


  • MBBS or equivalent with current or eligible registration with the Medical Board of Australia




  • Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (RANZCP) or equivalent specialist recognition




  • Experience and expertise in adult general psychiatry and forensic psychiatry, particularly in correctional or criminal justice settings




  • Demonstrated clinical leadership, interpersonal skills, and capacity to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams




  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, and ability to liaise effectively with GPs and service providers
