Optical Assistant Job in Newcastle, North East

Zest Optical Recruitment is working with a well established independent Opticians in central Newcastle to recruit a Part Time Optical Assistant.

This is a high end, design led practice known for its personal approach and carefully selected eyewear collections.

The focus is on individuality, craftsmanship and a considered dispensing experience.

This role would suit an Optical Assistant with a strong sense of style, confidence working with premium products, and an engaging way with patients.

Part time is preferred, with flexibility on days for the right person.

Optical Assistant Role

• Independent, design focused Opticians in central Newcastle


• Single testing environment with an emphasis on quality and patient experience


• High value dispensing with bespoke and limited edition eyewear


• Access to exclusive eyewear brands not found on the high street


• Delivering a personalised and consultative patient journey


• Advising on frames that may not be on open display


• Opportunity to be involved in frame buying and attend international trade shows


• Part time role working 3 or 4 days per week including Saturdays


• Typical hours 9.30am to 6.30pm, 5.30pm finish on Saturdays


• Salary dependent on experience with an excellent overall package plus bonus


• Ongoing training and development available, including the option to progress into a Dispensing Optician qualification

Optical Assistant Requirements

• Previous experience as an Optical Assistant


• A strong interest in eyewear and independent optics


• Good personal style with a fashion conscious approach to dispensing


• Comfortable working with high value, premium products


• Excellent customer service and communication skills


• Enjoys working as part of a close knit, supportive team
