Multi Skilled Maintenance Engineer

Job Role & Responsibilities:


Electrical-biased Maintenance Engineer responsible for ensuring the reliability and performance of automated FMCG production equipment.

The role focuses primarily on planned maintenance, fault-finding, and continuous improvement within a mixed-age manufacturing environment.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Carry out planned and reactive maintenance on automated production and packaging equipment


  • Diagnose and resolve electrical faults efficiently to minimise downtime


  • Support mechanical maintenance tasks including bearings, pumps, gearboxes, and valves


  • Work proactively to improve equipment reliability and performance


  • Operate independently during shifts while contributing to the wider engineering team


  • Support continuous improvement and CI-focused activities


  • Participate in shift cover, with flexibility to move onto nights if business needs require


The Ideal Candidate will have:


  • NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Engineering via apprenticeship


  • Strong electrical bias with multi-skilled maintenance experience


  • Minimum 3 years' experience in a similar FMCG or manufacturing environment (food preferred, not essential)


  • Experience working on conveyors, packaging, and automated equipment


  • A proactive, self-motivated approach and the ability to work alone on shift


Desirable Skills:


  • FMCG or food manufacturing background


  • Continuous Improvement (CI) mindset


  • Experience working with both legacy and modern machinery


  • Comfortable working within structured engineering teams and reporting lines
