Salary: negotiable depending on experience 

Hours: 40 hours per week

Shifts: 8.00am to 4.30pm, Monday to Friday

We are seeking a skilled, experienced, and self-motivated Regional Maintenance Person to support our care home group across multiple locations.

This is a key mobile role within the estates and facilities team, ensuring our homes are safe, well-maintained, and welcoming for residents, staff, and visitors.

A primary requirement for this role is a recognised plastering qualification or proven trade experience in plastering, alongside strong general maintenance and multi-trade skills.

About the role:

The Regional Maintenance Person will provide flexible, hands-on maintenance and refurbishment support across our care homes, including:

• Extensive plastering and finishing works across multiple sites, including repairs, skimming, patching, and finishing
• Delivering a wide range of refurbishment and improvement projects
• Painting and decorating, including wallpapering, wall coverings, coving, and full room redecoration
• Supporting paving and external works and general outdoor maintenance
• Carrying out tiling works in bathrooms, kitchens, and communal areas
• Carpentry and joinery including door fitting, adjustments, repairs, and general woodwork
• General maintenance including basic electrics, plumbing, and wider repair tasks
• Ensuring all mechanical, electrical, and plumbing equipment is maintained in safe and clean working order
• Replacing bulbs and maintaining operational lighting systems
• Carrying out all mandatory compliance checks and maintenance procedures within care homes
• Daily review of maintenance logs and immediate actioning of issues
• Safely locating and operating isolation points such as fuse boxes and stopcocks when required
• Weekly fire alarm testing and accurate record keeping
• Monthly checks of emergency lighting and water temperatures
• Regular inspection and servicing of fire appliances
• Monthly checks of fire doors and reporting defects
• Maintaining and testing Nurse Call systems
• Inspecting pressure-relieving mattresses and beds and reporting issues
• Supporting quarterly fire drills and evacuation procedures
• Covering annual leave and planned absences of site maintenance staff
• Providing urgent maintenance support during staff shortages
• Participating in an on-call rota for emergency out-of-hours response
• Travelling between care homes within the region as required
• Ensuring all homes are maintained to a high standard of safety, appearance, and compliance

Essential Requirements


  • The right to live and work in the UK
  • Plastering qualification or strong proven plastering trade experience (essential)
  • Painting and decorating skills including wallpapering, wall coverings, and coving installation (essential)
  • Experience in general maintenance or multi-trade building repairs
  • Painting and decorating, basic electrics, and basic plumbing skills
  • Ability to work independently and take full ownership of tasks
  • Strong initiative with a proactive, problem-solving approach
  • Participate in an on-call rota for emergency call-outs
  • A clean, full UK driving licence (required)
  • Good understanding of Health & Safety and Fire Safety
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work as part of a team
  • Right to live and work in the UK
  • Experience working in care homes, healthcare, or similar environments
  • Experience in planned maintenance systems and compliance checks
