General Operative Rotating Shifts

Production Operator

Location: Barbot Hall Industrial Estate, Mangham Road, Rotherham, S61 4RJ
Pay: £12.71 per hour
Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday
Shift pattern: Rotating days, afternoons and nights


  • Days: 6:00am–2:00pm
  • Afternoons: 2:00pm–10:00pm
  • Nights: 10:00pm–6:00am

Weekend overtime is available and paid at:


  • Saturdays: 1.5 times the standard hourly rate
  • Sundays: Double the standard hourly rate

The Company

Aqumen Recruitment is recruiting on behalf of a well-established plastics manufacturing company based in Rotherham.

The Rotherham site operates an extensive collection of large-tonnage injection moulding machines, with further investment planned.

The Opportunity

We are looking for reliable and motivated Production Operators to join the company’s Production team.

Reporting to the Shift Supervisor, you will support the day-to-day production process, assist with the operation of machinery and complete basic quality checks on finished products.

Following appropriate training, you will also identify and report any product or process non-conformances and ensure your work area remains clean, safe and audit-ready at all times.

Key Responsibilities

Your duties will include:


  • Completing safety checks on production areas, machinery and equipment
  • Immediately reporting accidents, near misses, hazards, product concerns and safety non-conformances
  • Assisting with the safe and efficient operation of production machinery
  • Carrying out basic product quality checks
  • Following approved standards, work instructions and Safe Operating Procedures
  • Meeting all personal and site safety requirements
  • Completing mandatory factory and role-specific training
  • Working positively and effectively with colleagues across different teams
  • Completing housekeeping and “Clean as You Go” activities
  • Identifying waste and suggesting opportunities to reduce or eliminate it
  • Maintaining a clean, organised and audit-ready workspace

What You Will Bring

Previous experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment would be beneficial, although full training will be provided.

You will also need:


  • A good understanding of written and spoken English
  • Basic maths and comprehension skills
  • The ability to follow instructions, approved standards and Safe Operating Procedures
  • A good awareness of workplace safety and quality standards
  • Strong attention to detail
  • A reliable and positive approach to work
  • The ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • The ability to meet individual and team production targets
  • Flexibility to work rotating day, afternoon and night shifts
