Band 6 Admiral Nurse - Dementia Specialist

Applications are invited from suitably qualified and experienced Registered Nurses to join the Adult Community Health & Social Care Service on the Island of Guernsey in the Channel Islands.
Jarrodean is delighted to be supporting this recent collaboration between the States of Guernsey and Dementia UK since 2022.
The Older Adult Service in Guernsey has a four in-patient centres; as well as Day Services and a Community Team comprising a MDT of Band 6 CPNs, OT, Social Worker.

You will support, deliver and coordinate relationship-centred dementia care in order to improve the experience of carers/families affected by dementia with complex needs.
In line with the Admiral Nurse Competency framework at a specialist level, you will report to the Band 7 Admiral Nurse and be in regular communication with inpatient and community Older Adult Mental Health teams to provide:
• Specialist bio-psychosocial assessment and support for people with dementia and families with complex needs
• Facilitation of education and training for staff in the delivery of evidence-based dementia care
• Support with policy development and quality improvements in relation to dementia care 
• Consultancy to other health and social care professionals regarding dementia

Please note; Guernsey has adopted the AfC banding system, but have applied their own salary scale. 

The current Band 6 salary range is £47,860 to £64,615 plus an annual bonus of £1,747 and higher unsocial hours enhancements; 36% evening/Saturday and 72% Sunday/BH.
Annual leave starts at 36 days up to 42 days with full credit for NHS service for annual leave and sick leave.

The island of Guernsey is in the Channel Islands and has a population of 65,000.

All of this is reliant on the excellent calibre of Nurses recruited to a very high standard.

Person requirements:
- Registered General, Mental Health or Learning Disabilities Nurse with full NMC Registration
- Two years current or recent UK-based Dementia-specific experience to include providing bio-psychosocial interventions
- Evidence of specialist training/education within the field of dementia

- Demonstrate all the 6 Admiral Nurse competencies: Person-centred care, Therapeutic skills, Triadic relationship centred working, Sharing knowledge, Delivering best practice and Critical reflective practice.
