Support Worker - Childrens Residential Home
Applications are invited from committed and experienced Children's Residential Support Workers to join the busy service on the beautiful Island of Guernsey, in the Channel Islands.
There are four homes in this service each with up to three children up to the age of 18.
Children may have a range of needs comprising; ADHD, Behavioural issues, Social Care and other reasons they cannot live with their families.
The salary for this post is £37,501 to £43,307 per annum, dependant on experience based on a 39 hour week based on two long days (07:00-23:00) per week and one sleepover shift
- You will be based in a Home where they will provide a safe and secure home for young people up until the age of 18.
- You will be responsible for ensuring a daily routine in the home is maintained which will include administration and domestic tasks.
- You will encourage and assist Young People to attend appointments, meetings and other commitments in helping to establish routines and develop self-reliance.
- You will also provide support and guidance for Children and Young People in all aspects of their education, health and wellbeing to ensure they reach their full potential.
The island of Guernsey is in the Channel Islands and has a population of 65,000.
It has some of Britain's finest and best-kept beaches, an especially mild and sunny climate, and an offbeat, historic harbour town in St.
Peter's Port, the island's capital.
Person requirements:
- To hold a clean current driving licence
- At least two years full-time, appropriate Children's Residential Home experience
- Completion of an NVQ Level 3 in Residential Childcare or Health and Social Care, or higher qualification
- To be able to demonstrate organisational skills and a good standard of literacy and numeracy with the proven ability of completing administrative tasks and maintaining clear, concise records.
- Ability to work both as part of a team and autonomously with honesty, integrity and common sense.
- Ability to act as an appropriate role model for Children and Young People; encouraging participation in required activities.
- To be a UK or Irish citizen, or UK permanent resident/ILR - not requiring employer sponsorship
