Consultant Psychiatrist - CAMHS & Adult | Regional Western Australia

An exciting opportunity is available for Consultant Psychiatrists specialising in CAMHS and Adult Psychiatry to join a community mental health service in regional Western Australia.

This is an opportunity to provide specialist psychiatric care across children, adolescents, young people and adults while contributing to the delivery and development of high-quality regional mental health services.

You will provide specialist psychiatric assessment and treatment within a community-based mental health setting, supporting patients across CAMHS, adult and youth services.

Working alongside Consultant Psychiatrists, registrars and a multidisciplinary team, you will provide clinical leadership and contribute to the ongoing development of regional mental health services.

Key responsibilities include:

• Delivering specialist psychiatric assessment and treatment


• Providing clinical leadership, advice and consultation to GPs and healthcare professionals


• Supporting mental health care across child, adolescent, youth and adult populations


• Contributing to best-practice mental health initiatives and service development


• Chairing clinical reviews and supporting compliance with relevant legislation


• Building strong relationships with healthcare providers, carers and community stakeholders


• Participating in clinical governance and quality improvement activities


• Providing supervision, mentoring and teaching to junior medical staff


• Contributing to regional mental health planning and service development

• Eligibility for registration with the Medical Board of Australia


• Fellowship of the RANZCP or an approved equivalent


• Certificate of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry or approved equivalent for CAMHS-focused positions


• Penultimate-year RANZCP trainees who have completed all required training components may also be considered


• Substantial clinical experience in general adult, child, adolescent and youth psychiatry


• Strong clinical leadership and communication skills


• Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team


• Willingness to work across regional mental health locations as required


• Commitment to evidence-based, high-quality patient care
