An exciting opportunity is available for a Psychiatrist to join a specialist adolescent mental health service in Melbourne.

This permanent part-time position offers the opportunity to support young people experiencing complex mental health presentations, including eating disorders, while working alongside a highly experienced and collaborative multidisciplinary team.

You will provide specialist psychiatric care to adolescents receiving inpatient mental health treatment, including young people experiencing eating disorders and other complex mental health presentations.

Working within a multidisciplinary team, you will contribute to comprehensive assessment, treatment planning and ongoing clinical management while supporting young people, their families and carers.

Key responsibilities include:

• Providing specialist psychiatric assessment and clinical management


• Supporting young people experiencing complex mental health presentations


• Providing care within an adolescent inpatient environment


• Contributing to the assessment and treatment of eating disorders


• Developing and reviewing individualised treatment and management plans


• Working collaboratively with multidisciplinary mental health professionals


• Engaging with families and carers as part of a recovery-focused approach


• Participating in clinical reviews, case discussions and team meetings


• Contributing to clinical governance and quality improvement activities


• Supporting education and professional development within the service

• Medical registration with AHPRA or eligibility for registration


• Specialist registration in Psychiatry or appropriate progress towards specialist qualification


• Experience working with adolescents and young people in a mental health setting


• Experience or strong interest in eating disorders and complex adolescent psychiatry


• Strong clinical assessment and treatment-planning skills


• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills


• Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team


• Commitment to family-inclusive, recovery-oriented and patient-centred care


• Strong interest in professional development and service improvement
