About the role and school


Teach Plus are working with a welcoming primary school in Lambeth that is looking to appoint a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join its team as soon as possible.


This is an excellent opportunity for a graduate or a candidate with a relevant childcare qualification who is interested in supporting children with special educational needs and helping pupils overcome barriers to learning.


The successful candidate will provide classroom and individual support, help pupils engage with learning and work closely with teachers to promote positive behaviour and development.

The school is looking for someone who is patient, proactive and able to build positive relationships with children who may require additional academic, social or emotional support.


Both full-time and part-time opportunities are available.


Job Responsibilities




  • Support pupils with special educational needs in the classroom




  • Provide individual and small-group support where required




  • Assist teachers with learning activities and classroom routines




  • Support pupils with communication, social interaction and independence




  • Promote positive behaviour and engagement with learning




  • Help deliver targeted interventions under the guidance of teaching staff




  • Adapt support to meet pupils' individual needs




  • Work collaboratively with teachers and the wider support team




  • Contribute to a safe, inclusive and nurturing learning environment




Qualifications/Experience




  • A graduate background or relevant childcare qualification is preferred




  • Previous experience supporting children with SEN is desirable




  • A genuine interest in special educational needs and inclusive education




  • Patient, calm and adaptable approach




  • Confident communication and teamwork skills




  • Ability to follow guidance and respond to individual pupil needs




  • Reliable and available to start as soon as possible
