About the role and school

Teach Plus are currently recruiting for a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming and inclusive primary school in Islington, starting January 2027.

This full-time SEN Teaching Assistant position is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Teaching Assistant who is passionate about supporting children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).

The successful SEN Teaching Assistant will provide tailored 1:1 and small-group support to primary-aged pupils with additional learning needs, helping them access the curriculum, develop confidence and independence, and achieve their full potential within a supportive classroom environment.

The school is a vibrant and inclusive primary school situated in the heart of Islington, serving a diverse and thriving local community.

With a strong emphasis on creativity, inclusion and academic achievement, the school is committed to providing a broad, balanced and engaging curriculum that encourages children to become confident, independent and enthusiastic learners.

The school promotes positive relationships, high expectations and a nurturing learning environment where every child is valued.

Teachers, support staff and the SENCO work collaboratively to ensure pupils with additional needs receive appropriate support and are fully included in school life.

This SEN Teaching Assistant opportunity would particularly suit a patient, proactive and adaptable individual with previous experience supporting children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), ADHD, speech and language difficulties or other special educational needs.

The school is looking for a confident SEN Teaching Assistant who can build positive relationships with pupils, implement effective learning and behaviour support strategies, and work closely with teaching staff to meet individual needs.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone passionate about SEN education to make a genuine difference to children's academic, social and emotional development while gaining valuable experience within a supportive primary school.
