SEN Teacher

Job Title: SEN Teacher
Start Date: January 2027
Location: Tooting
Contract: Full-time only
Salary: MPS 1 - UPS 3 + SEN Allowance

About the role and school

Teach Plus are currently recruiting for a passionate and dedicated SEN Teacher to join a specialist independent secondary school in Tooting, South West London, starting January 2027.

This full-time SEN Teacher position is an excellent opportunity for an experienced teacher who is passionate about supporting secondary-aged pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), particularly those with Specific Learning Difficulties (SpLD), including dyslexia and associated learning needs.

The successful SEN Teacher will be responsible for planning and delivering engaging, differentiated lessons across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4, supporting pupils aged 11-16 to achieve their academic potential, develop confidence and independence, and prepare for further education and life beyond school.

The school is a specialist independent secondary school situated in Tooting, providing a nurturing and inclusive learning environment for pupils aged 11-16 who benefit from a personalised approach to education.

With a strong emphasis on supporting young people with dyslexia and specific learning difficulties, the school combines high academic expectations with tailored teaching strategies designed to help pupils overcome barriers to learning.

The school offers a broad and engaging secondary curriculum, including GCSE and vocational BTEC pathways, ensuring pupils have opportunities to develop academically and personally.

Small teaching groups, positive relationships and a supportive approach to behaviour and emotional wellbeing help create an environment where pupils can build confidence, resilience and independence.

Teachers and specialist support staff work collaboratively to ensure every pupil receives the individual attention and encouragement needed to succeed.

This SEN Teacher opportunity would particularly suit a motivated, creative and adaptable teacher with experience supporting secondary-aged pupils with dyslexia, specific learning difficulties, ADHD, autism or associated additional needs.

The school is looking for a confident SEN Teacher who can deliver highly differentiated lessons, adapt teaching resources and implement effective strategies to support pupils with varying learning profiles.

Experience teaching at Key Stage 3 or Key Stage 4, particularly within a specialist SEND school, independent school or inclusive mainstream secondary setting, would be particularly beneficial.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a dedicated SEN Teacher to develop their specialist teaching skills, work alongside experienced SEND professionals and make a meaningful difference to young people's academic achievement, personal development and future opportunities.
