RN / RNLD Nurse Team Lead - Complex Care

RN/ RNLD Nurse Team Lead - Complex Care

Location: Helston, Cornwall

Pay Rates: £30.00 - £50.00

Shift Pattern: Days and Nights

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Registered Adult Nurse (RGN) or Registered Nurse Learning Disabilities (RNLD) to take a Team Lead role within a complex homecare package supporting a young adult male with global developmental delay, autism, a learning disability and absent verbal communication.

This is a hands-on clinical leadership role for someone who understands behaviours that may challenge, Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) and person-centred care.

You will work closely with the client, his family and the wider multidisciplinary team to provide consistent, safe and compassionate care.

You will lead the care team on shift, role-model best practice and support an approach that promotes communication, choice, independence, meaningful activity and quality of life.

Clinical Responsibilities

· Deliver safe, high-quality nursing care in the client's home and monitor changes in presentation, health and well-being.

· Use PBS principles to understand the function of behaviour, identify triggers and early warning signs, and support proactive, least-restrictive strategies.

· Provide gastrostomy care, including a gastrostomy tube on free drainage, and administer medication via a gastrojejunostomy tube.

· Respond appropriately to clinical deterioration, incidents and safeguarding concerns, escalating in line with policy and professional responsibilities.

Team Lead Responsibilities

· Provide day-to-day clinical leadership, guidance and support to nurses and support workers within the package.

· Support staff induction, supervision, competency assessment and ongoing learning, escalating development needs where required.

· Coordinate with the Clinical Lead, family and multidisciplinary professionals, ensuring actions and changes are communicated clearly.

· Maintain high standards of documentation, medication management, infection prevention, clinical governance and incident reporting.

About You

· Currently registered with the NMC as an RNLD or RN.

· Proven experience supporting people with learning disabilities and autism in complex care or community settings.

· Practical experience of Positive Behaviour Support, including contributing to PBS plans and supporting staff to apply them consistently.

· Confident in leading a team, delegating appropriately and challenging practice constructively when standards are not met.

· Experience of non-verbal communication and adapting care to the individual's sensory and communication needs.

· Competent in, or willing to complete package-specific training for, gastrostomy care and gastrojejunostomy medication administration.

· A full driving licence and access to a vehicle.

All candidates MUST be drivers.

Why Join Us?

· Excellent rates of pay.

· Guaranteed hours with set rotas.

· Full package-specific training and competency support.

· Career development support with OneCall24 Healthcare.

· The opportunity to lead a skilled team and make a meaningful difference to a client's life.

If you are an experienced RNLD or RN with strong complex care and PBS skills, and you are ready to combine hands-on nursing with positive team leadership, we would like to hear from you.
