Summary:
Ready to hit the road and make a real impact? As a Field Technical Service Engineer, you'll be the front-line expert supporting job startups, inspecting coatings, and solving challenges in the field.
You'll also contribute to in-house testing, equipment upkeep, and product evaluations-helping drive innovation and excellence in protective coatings.
Minimum Requirements:
High School Diploma or equivalent 2-year college Chemistry or minimum 5 years Technical Service experience Valid Driver's License Valid Passport NACE Certified CIP preferred (Level 1, Level 2, or Level 3), or ability to obtain within 6 months.
Physical Requirements:
Occasional physical activity required.
Ability to lift up to 75 lbs.
Extended computer usage (up to 8 hours/day) Must be able to climb and meet 1A Ladder requirements.
Occasional exposure to chemicals Travel required 50%+, including nights and weekends.
Must pass and maintain respirator fit test requirements.
Essential Functions:
Prepare coating panels with precision and care-laying the foundation for high-performance testing.
Confidently operate and maintain a variety of tools and equipment, including hand tools, power tools, abrasive blast cabinets, and pin welders.
Document and track panel performance to ensure accurate and reliable testing outcomes.
Execute certified spray applications for nuclear testing orders with attention to detail and safety.
Take charge of routine field jobs, providing expert guidance and technical support to ensure smooth operations.
Collaborate with customers and sales teams to gather critical job data and prepare for successful field visits.
Lead hands-on demonstrations of mixing equipment, airless and conventional spray systems-showcasing best practices for applying Carboline products.
Interpret surface preparation standards with confidence, ensuring compliance with job specifications.
Train and empower painters, inspectors, and supervisors with practical techniques and technical know-how.
Support evaluations of new products and equipment, contributing to innovation and continuous improvement.
Follow established procedures from the Technical Service Procedures Manual to maintain consistency and quality.
Champion the Company's safety and quality programs, setting the standard for excellence in the field.

What will you do?

Read, research, interpret, and analyze data on current processes, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Leverage knowledge of tiered governance systems, Kaizen, 5S, visual management and SMED to assist sites in improving efficiencies by evaluating process and practice from various perspectives.
Influence and motivate others to attend to, participate in and own local continuous improvement efforts and initiatives.
Lead cross-functional improvement projects, ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and meet predefined objectives.
Develop, monitor, and communicate project plans, timelines, and budgets with key stakeholders.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor's degree, Process Management, or Operations, with concentration in Engineering preferred.
Two plus years related experience and/or training
Previous experience in a manufacturing environment, preferred in Chemical Manufacturing and/or batch manufacturing operations.
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations, write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals and effectively present information and respond to questions from diverse groups.
Solve Practical problems where only limited standardization exists.
Interprets instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Step into the lab and bring chemistry to life! Our Chemist Internships offers hands-on experience in product development, applied research, or analytical testing.
You'll work side-by-side with senior chemists to design, perform, and analyze experiments focused on high-performance coatings, linings, and fireproofing technologies.
From day one, you'll take ownership of a real-world project, sharpen your technical skills, and present your findings to industry leaders-gaining invaluable insight into the fast-paced world of industrial chemistry.

Minimum Requirements:
Currently pursuing a degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
Available to work 30-40 hours per week from May through August.
Strong communication, organization, teamwork, and interpersonal skills.
A proactive attitude and willingness to learn.
Physical Requirements:
This position requires minimal physical activity but does require standing and computer usage for extended times (up to 8 hours/day).
Students must have housing arrangements in or near St.
Louis, MO for the summer, as housing allowance is not provided.
Basic knowledge of PPE and lab settings and equipment.
Essential Functions:
Gain hands-on experience with lab instruments and testing procedures to confidently conduct experiments.
Participate in all stages of applied research, review relevant technical literature, objective identification, formulation development, preparation, calibration, application, performance evaluation, and data analysis to support technical initiatives.
Design and execute experiments under expert mentorship as part of a defined research project.
Analyze results and draw meaningful scientific conclusions that support innovation.
Perform statistical experimental design to identify trends, compare results against specifications, and contribute to technical conclusions.
Present project findings to peers, senior executives, and business leaders, showcasing your impact.
Maintain strict adherence to all safety protocols and laboratory best practices, ensuring the proper handling of chemicals and raw materials while upholding a clean, organized, and fully compliant laboratory environment.
Uphold the company's safety and quality standards throughout all research activities.
