The role
Fugro are looking for an Engineer to join its Structural Monitoring team based in Aberdeen, part of the Fugro Marine Asset Integrity (MAI) business line.
The team is passionate about data and provides asset integrity solutions for offshore energy structures.
We acquire, process and analyse Geo-Data to unlock insights, helping our clients manage their risk and ultimately creating a safe and liveable world.
The office is the centre of excellence within Fugro for the work and projects delivered worldwide in conjunction with other regional Fugro offices.
You will be involved in the entire lifecycle of projects, from design, through assembly and test, site work planning, to data processing and reporting.
This is an interesting, rewarding and varied role where you can develop further skills and make a difference.
You will be working with a team of specialists including engineers, technicians and field staff.
There would also be interaction with clients, suppliers and other stakeholders.
Note that occasional offshore site work, including abroad, may be required.

Here's what a typical day would be like:
Project delivery - a variety of work depending on the nature and phase of the project.
Examples: design calculations; testing and troubleshooting sensor packages and data acquisition equipment; writing procedures for testing and installation; generate quality control documentation, and manage health and safety responsibilities.
Propose suggestions for improvement.
Preparing and checking of technical documentation, designs and calculations in support of projects.

Your role and responsibilities:
Acquire hydrographic data using a full suite of instruments, including multibeam echosounders, GNSS, sound velocity profilers, USBL positioning, backscatter, sidescan sonar, seismic, sub-bottom profilers, and magnetometers.
Lead or support vessel mobilisations and demobilisations, ensuring all survey equipment is prepared and operational.
Carry out offshore survey operations, assist with back-deck tasks, and perform data coverage checks.
Where necessary, develop infill line plans to maintain data quality and completeness.
Work closely with the full project team daily, including Project Managers, the data processing team, fellow surveyors, and clients, to ensure smooth project execution.
Report progress and technical updates directly to the Chief Surveyor, maintaining strong communication across all stages of the survey.
Working primarily offshore with rotations usually on a four week on, four week off basis.
What you'll need to thrive in this role:

Fugro's Benthic team is seeking an enthusiastic Laboratory Technician to join their specialist marine biology group at Trafalgar Wharf, Portchester.
Working at the forefront of marine site characterisation, you will help extract and identify species from seabed and marine substrates across the globe, contributing to environmental insights that enable clients to understand the impact of their developments on coastal and marine ecosystems.

Your role and responsibilities:
Support Benthic analysis and other onsite labs (sediment and water quality).
Process marine sediment samples from worldwide locations.

Test marine sediment and water samples.
Conduct water quality sampling in Hampshire, West Sussex at local schools, leisure centres, and onboard cruise ships.
Receive and log samples.
