I am searching for an experienced Production Engineer for an internationally respected and very successful manufacturing business based near to Exeter.
Reporting to the Lean Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for supporting production throughout the in-house metal shop and assembly areas alongside the external supply chain.
The role is focussing on the support of existing product ranges and the introduction of new products.
You will help to development supporting systems to improve quality and sustainability of our client's product range.
The role will include the definition and delivery of strategic targets across the business.
Working within the Production Engineering and Lean Team, you will ensure successful identification and implementation of best manufacturing practise.
You will help review the suitability for manufacture of new products and maintain quality that exceeds customer expectation.
Duties include:
Identify and present ideas for improving production in order to improve profitability, quality, throughput and H&S.
Conduct feasibility studies on continuous improvement ideas generated from within Production, gained sign off and implement those projects.
Work closely with the Lean team to develop and implement best practices, routines and solutions to improve production rates, quality and output.
Support the Production Team in evaluating the strategic development of on-site manufacturing to achieve business goals.
Assist in the production of operating instructions.
Assist in the coordination and management of new products internally and externally to support the manufacturing team where required.
Produce written reports where required.
You will undertake continuous training and development.
Ensure adherence in accordance with any health, safety and environmental policies and procedures to ensure the safety and wellbeing of staff and visitors.
Participate in new product reviews to ensure that only the most production efficient designs are released into production.
Participate in Change Request reviews to ensure that the best and most cost-efficient solutions are adopted without having a negative impact on safety or quality standards.
Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders to ensure optimal performance.
Work as part of the production engineering team to share ideas and improve operation, recommending, supporting, and implementing continuous improvement activities and process and procedure improvements to optimise results and improve quality of delivery, in line with quality standards requirements.
Stay current and up to date on any technology changes that may affect manufacturing and advise of any impact.
Liaise and communicate with other departments, suppliers, and other service providers as and when required.

Qualifications and experience:
HNC or HND or equivalent in an engineering discipline, as a minimum.
Experience of implementing manufacturing improvements and continuous improvement projects within batch manufacturing businesses.
Experience of working with sheet metal fabrication with an understanding of related manufacturing processes and limitations.
Experience of quality management including proven use of DFMEA & PFMEA.
Project management experience and a track record of identifying and successfully implementing change.
Previous involvement in new product introductions would be beneficial.
Experience of Value Analysis and Value Engineering techniques, Root Cause Analysis, Value Stream Mapping and 8D would be beneficial but is NOT a prerequisite.

Job description
Holt Engineering is working with a dynamic, growing ICP and EV Infrastructure company who are looking for an Electrical Field Service Engineer to support their team in Scotland.
The Electrical Field Service Engineer will be responsible for the commissioning, maintenance and repair of AC chargers, Rapid DC, Ultra and High-Power Charging (HPC) EV charging infrastructure across sites throughout the UK.
This role is well suited to someone with a strong electrical background who is confident working independently and delivering high-quality technical support on site.
You will play a key role in ensuring charging equipment operates safely, efficiently and to the highest standards expected by both clients and the wider business.
The position will involve working in a range of environments, including outdoor locations and confined spaces, with occasional travel and overnight stays required.
Essential
- NVQ Level 3 Electrical Qualification
- Minimum of 2 years experience in a field-based engineering role involving commissioning, maintenance or repair of electrical systems or equipment
- Proven ability to work independently on client sites and resolve technical issues without direct supervision
- Experience operating in SLA-driven environments
- Familiarity with test and measurement equipment such as multimeters and voltage testers
- Strong fault-finding skills with the ability to diagnose and repair complex technical issues
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective client interaction
- Strong time management skills, particularly when travelling between sites
- Full UK driving licence with no more than 6 penalty points

Key responsibilities
- Work closely with Service Coordination and Operations teams to ensure accurate job completion records and timely follow-up on service reports
- Commission and configure AC and Rapid DC chargers at customer sites
- Carry out initial setup and testing to ensure correct operation and compliance with relevant industry standards
- Liaise with project management and installation teams to support smooth integration of charging infrastructure with client systems
- Maintain company tools, assets and test equipment in good working order, reporting defects promptly
- Perform planned and preventative maintenance on EV charging equipment to maximise performance and uptime
- Diagnose and troubleshoot technical issues, including electrical, mechanical and software-related faults
- Carry out diagnostic testing, firmware updates and calibration of EV chargers where required
- Replace faulty components and, where necessary, complete full charger replacements in line with manufacturer guidelines
- Provide on-site technical support and user guidance to clients on the operation of EV chargers
- Respond promptly to service requests and maintain clear communication with clients to ensure a high standard of customer service
- Accurately document repairs, maintenance activity and customer interactions within the service management system
- Comply with all safety regulations and internal policies while working in the field
- Ensure all commissioning and maintenance work is completed in line with local electrical codes and standards
- Take part in ongoing safety training and certification requirements

Main Duties & Responsibilities of Electrical Maintenance Engineer
Providing plant-wide maintenance service, departmental support and repairs ensuring that all production targets are maintained - maintaining factory manufacturing machinery
Monitor & supply Engineering support of machine set-up & changeovers to ensure that the product conforms to any quality assurance standards and ensuring changeovers are as efficient as possible.
Experience and Qualifications Required for Electrical Maintenance Engineer
Recognised Engineering Apprenticeship & Qualification or equivalent, e.g.
NVQ, City and Guilds, ONC, BTEC or above - Mechanical or Electrical
High degree of Health & Safety awareness.
Ability to fault find, repair and provide solutions to problems.

A Buyer (6-Month FTC) is sought to join a well-established engineering organisation in Bedford, Bedfordshire, supporting the purchasing function and ensuring the timely supply of materials to meet production demands.
The Buyer, Bedford, Bedfordshire, will be expected to work closely with the Purchasing Manager and wider business to source materials, manage supplier relationships, and control orders from placement through to on-time delivery.
This role involves MRP-driven purchasing, supplier negotiation, and cross-functional collaboration with engineering and production teams.
Responsibilities include:
Manage new and existing suppliers to source high-quality materials delivered on time and within target pricing.
Review Bills of Materials for new orders and collaborate with engineering teams to resolve any issues.
Identify, evaluate, and onboard new suppliers into the approved supplier list.
Run MRP processes to generate material requirements and purchasing demand.
Obtain quotations from suppliers for price and lead time.
Negotiate pricing, lead times, and commercial terms to meet purchasing targets.
Raise and place purchase orders, ensuring accuracy and compliance with requirements.
Ensure supplier order confirmations meet agreed price, lead time, and quantity.
Expedite supplier deliveries to ensure on-time supply of materials.
Manage supplier non-conformances in collaboration with internal teams.
Support production teams with material-related queries and supply chain issues.
Maintain accurate supplier records and approved supplier lists.
Carry out purchasing activities driven by engineering changes.
Undertake additional duties as required in line with business objectives.
Key skills & experience:
CIPS Level 3-4 qualification or equivalent experience.
Previous experience in a purchasing or supply chain role within a manufacturing environment.
Strong experience using MRP systems to manage and schedule orders.
Excellent numerical, analytical, and planning skills.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate across teams.
Good IT skills, particularly in Excel and Word.
High attention to detail and accuracy in order placement and management.
Highly organised with the ability to prioritise workloads and meet deadlines.
