JOB DESCRIPTION
POSITION TITLE: Chemist
SUMMARY/OBJECTIVE: The Chemist position is a degreed, experienced, product development role that is an integral part of the laboratory formulation staff.
This is an advanced level position for personnel that have a demonstrated, consistent, and extended record of high quality and reproducible results in all associated activities involved in formulation, testing and preparation of commercial products.
Simply stated, Chemists conduct experiments in the laboratory in order to analyze substances, develop new products, or improve existing ones.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Manipulate new or existing formulations to obtain required properties through adjustment of raw materials or processing parameters that meet customer expectations and are commercially successful.
Formula finalization including data entry into Product Vision.
Preparation of supporting materials required for formula transfer to production, such as product folders and QC specifications.
Formula maintenance support through the PPDCR process. Ensure compliance to all record keeping and documentation requirements supporting laboratory activities.
Provide technical assistance to internal departments and customers. Ensure and maintain an orderly and safe working environment for all employees. Other duties as assigned.
COMPENTENCIES:
Demonstrated track record of successful commercialization formulating multiple existing platforms to support projects with some degree of uncertainty with an advanced level of judgement and decision making. Advanced knowledge of raw materials, processing and testing methods routinely used within the work steps and in the general coatings marketplace.
Advanced level of judgement and independent thinking.

Technical Application Specialist
GENERAL PURPOSE OF THE JOB:
The Technical Application Specialist ensures proper application of Tremco products in accordance with company and industry guidelines by providing both on-site and office-based problem resolution assistance.
This individual is a technical liaison between the business and Tremco's field-based internal and external stakeholders.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide or obtain accurate and timely product application, qualification, and/or troubleshooting services to internal colleagues and external business partners
Assist with general on-site product application, training, and general substrate review.
Assist with the generation and maintenance of technical documentation and collateral with various internal departments.
Examples include application instructions, technical data sheets, technical marketing collateral, product training programs, 3rd party testing/validation reports, and other product assets.
Assist in the collection of laboratory data forproject and/or product-specific testing.
Assist with and/or perform in-field and in-house analytical lab testing to confirm the chemical compatibility and physical adhesion properties of Tremco products on specified jobs, for evaluating new areas of application, new product development, and competitive product analysis.
Conduct jobsite observations/evaluations with customers and field sales reps to make accurate and timely product and installation recommendations.
Compose official letters and/or corporate communiques, including installation instructions, job qualification parameters, and competitive product comparisons along with assisting in the development of detail drawings to help secure sales opportunities.
Provide or obtain accurate and timely answers to inquiries on product usage, comparative competitive products, web-site navigation, product specifications, repair techniques, assessment and/or remedial course of action recommendations for jobsite problems, environmental regulations, construction sequencing, and technical product property questions.
Ensure product performance through proper recommendation of jobsite qualification and application techniques.
Possess and leverage a basic knowledge of Tremco's product portfolio.
Learn assigned core product line technology while assisting higher level Application Specialists with occasional direction.
Provide clear written and verbal technical support and product recommendations to internal and external stakeholders including sales representatives, technical representatives, owners, architects, engineers, contractors, installers, etc.
EDUCATION
High School Diploma or GED required.
Bachelor's degree inScience, Civil Engineering,Construction Management or similarfieldpreferred
EXPERIENCE
1+ years of Technical Service, Technical Sales, or Construction Industry experience required.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

The salary range for applicants in this position generally ranges between $52,960 - $66,200.

Technical Application Specialist
GENERAL PURPOSE OF THE JOB:
The Technical Application Specialist ensures proper application of Tremco products in accordance with company and industry guidelines by providing both on-site and office-based problem resolution assistance.
This individual is a technical liaison between the business and Tremco's field-based internal and external stakeholders.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide or obtain accurate and timely product application, qualification, and/or troubleshooting services to internal colleagues and external business partners
Assist with general on-site product application, training, and general substrate review.
Assist with the generation and maintenance of technical documentation and collateral with various internal departments.
Examples include application instructions, technical data sheets, technical marketing collateral, product training programs, 3rd party testing/validation reports, and other product assets.
Assist in the collection of laboratory data forproject and/or product-specific testing.
Assist with and/or perform in-field and in-house analytical lab testing to confirm the chemical compatibility and physical adhesion properties of Tremco products on specified jobs, for evaluating new areas of application, new product development, and competitive product analysis.
Conduct jobsite observations/evaluations with customers and field sales reps to make accurate and timely product and installation recommendations.
Compose official letters and/or corporate communiques, including installation instructions, job qualification parameters, and competitive product comparisons along with assisting in the development of detail drawings to help secure sales opportunities.
Provide or obtain accurate and timely answers to inquiries on product usage, comparative competitive products, web-site navigation, product specifications, repair techniques, assessment and/or remedial course of action recommendations for jobsite problems, environmental regulations, construction sequencing, and technical product property questions.
Ensure product performance through proper recommendation of jobsite qualification and application techniques.
Possess and leverage a basic knowledge of Tremco's product portfolio.
Learn assigned core product line technology while assisting higher level Application Specialists with occasional direction.
Provide clear written and verbal technical support and product recommendations to internal and external stakeholders including sales representatives, technical representatives, owners, architects, engineers, contractors, installers, etc.
EDUCATION
High School Diploma or GED required.
Bachelor's degree inScience, Civil Engineering,Construction Management or similarfieldpreferred
EXPERIENCE
1+ years of Technical Service, Technical Sales, or Construction Industry experience required.

This is an advanced level position for personnel that have a demonstrated, consistent, and extended record of high quality and reproducible results in all associated activities involved in formulation, testing and preparation of commercial products.
Simply stated, Chemists conduct experiments in the laboratory in order to analyze substances, develop new products, or improve existing ones.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Manipulate new or existing formulations to obtain required properties through adjustment of raw materials or processing parameters that meet customer expectations and are commercially successful.
Formula finalization including data entry into Product Vision.
Preparation of supporting materials required for formula transfer to production, such as product folders and QC specifications.
Formula maintenance support through the PPDCR process. Ensure compliance to all record keeping and documentation requirements supporting laboratory activities.
Provide technical assistance to internal departments and customers. Ensure and maintain an orderly and safe working environment for all employees. Other duties as assigned.
COMPENTENCIES:
Demonstrated track record of successful commercialization formulating multiple existing platforms to support projects with some degree of uncertainty with an advanced level of judgement and decision making. Advanced knowledge of raw materials, processing and testing methods routinely used within the work steps and in the general coatings marketplace.
Advanced level of judgement and independent thinking.
REQUIRED SKILLS:

RECOMMENDED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry or related material science field.
Additional certification (Master's degree or a PhD) is a plus 5+ years of experience in paint or paint related field.

Travel will be occasionally required.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Work is carried out in a Research and Development laboratory.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee will have potential exposure to hazardous chemicals, dust, fumes and noise.
The employee will be required to wear all appropriate safety equipment including (but not limited to) eye protection, ear protection, dust mask or respirator, gloves, steel toed shoes, and in the plant, a hard hat.
This position works in an environment in which safety, environmental and health concerns may demand constant attention.

Fugro's Marine Environmental team is seeking an Assistant Sediment and Water Quality Scientist in Portchester, Hampshire.
This is a full-time, twelve-month contract where the successful candidate will play a key role in supporting sediment analysis and water quality sampling activities, and contributing to the delivery of high-quality technical outputs.
The Marine Environmental team specialises in environmental site characterisation and environmental monitoring.
The data we collect enables our clients and regulatory organisations to fully understand the effects of developments and activities in the coastal and marine environment.
Following comprehensive training, the role involves conducting laboratory tests on marine sediment and water samples, including particle size distribution, total suspended solids and total dissolved solids and other associated tests.
It also includes performing water quality sampling for microbiological monitoring projects at schools, leisure centres and aboard cruise ships.
Additional responsibilities include administrative support and maintaining a clean, organised laboratory environment, all in alignment with Fugro's quality, health, safety, security, and environmental standards.

Here's what a typical day would be like:
You will prepare sediment and water samples from projects globally for testing and then run a series of tests as prescribed by the client;
You will conduct water quality sampling of swimming pools and potable water facilities at schools and leisure centres located around the Hampshire and West Sussex region;
You will conduct water quality sampling of recreational and potable water facilities onboard cruise ships, typically located in and around the South and South West regions;
You will contribute towards the production of sediment and water quality results and test certificates;
You will assist in maintaining UKAS (ISO: 17025) accreditation for the laboratory testing/sampling activities, including conducting standard procedures, quality control checks, equipment maintenance and laboratory records, as allocated;
You will assist in the general maintenance of the laboratory and water quality department including house-keeping, sample storage and sample tracking.
Please note that whilst this position requires a 37.5hr week, the company may be able to offer flexibility around working hours and would be happy to discuss this at interview.
However, weekend working, working away from home, and overtime will be required from time to time.
A full clean driving licence and your own transport are required
A full medical assessment must be completed before starting
