As the Management Accountant, you'll be responsible for producing the monthly management accounts for 2 legal entities, annual budgeting, quarterly variance analysis, VAT Returns, Year End and External Audit.
Providing support with Sales Ledger / Purchase Ledger where required.

THE MANAGEMENT ACCOUNTANT ROLE:
Reporting to the Financial Director and collaborating with other members of the team
Producing the monthly management accounts for multiple legal entities, including full commentary, MI Analysis, Variance Reporting and Producing the board pack.
Controlling & analysing business performance.
Prepare and post accounting journals, particularly at month end.
Month end close and P&L preparation.
Budget preparation & Forecasting
Variance analysis including commentary against budget and prior year.
Balance sheet control, reconciliations and analysis.
Processing payment runs.
Quarterly VAT returns.
Supporting with both Sales Ledger / Purchase Ledger tasks

THE PERSON:

Daily review of ticketing system to ensure timely response to accountants' queries.
Review of tax payment notes sent by accountants using the ERP system reports.
Ensure timely payment of taxes and communicate with the accountants on their status.
Review the Financial Statements of our clients in terms of incoming and outgoing transactions and send to the relevant coordinator for higher level analysis.
What You Will Need to Succeed in This Role
Educated to Degree or mid level or hold the equivalent in finance or accounting, AAT, ACCA or similar.
Previous experience analysing financial statements and tax return is preferable.
Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Excel and Database Reporting
English speaker - Intermediate level in oral and written English
The ability to review confidential documents and digest the contents with a view to flagging any sensitive material.

Experienced Finance Manager / Accountant with knowledge of German accounting systems and German tax law required for leading Germany based retail / wholesale business.
Remote based with travel to London and Germany.
The Role
The Finance Manager / Accountant will be handling the finance function of the business working a very comprehensive role and will manage two members of staff.
The Finance Manager will be in a hands-on role and responsibilities will include:
VAT returns for monthly filing
Preparation of data for the annual financial statements and cooperation with the tax agent
Processing and control of financial figures
Accounting support
Budget and cash-flow preparation and control
Balance sheet reconciliation
Bank, customer and suppliers' account reconciliation
Credit control management
Management accounts preparation
The Company
Our client is a wholesaler and retailer of footwear and bags, selling high quality products both direct to consumer and to a diverse account base of retailers across Germany and Austria.
They have a strong sales base across fashion, agriculture and workwear, and are headquartered outside of Bonn.
The company operates as a subsidiary of their UK based business, which covers the same work in the UK with an office in West Kensington.
The Person
You will be fully qualified or part qualified with experience of working in a similar role with strong knowledge of German accounting systems.
Fluent in German and English with strong verbal & written communication skills and good IT skills you will also need:
Advanced Excel skills
Experience / knowledge of SAP B1 software
Analytical approach
Excellent attention to detail

Responsibilities & Duties
Prepare accounts for sole traders, partnerships, and limited companies for finalisation by management.
Preparation of Self-Assessment Tax returns
Preparation of Corporation Tax returns
Preparation and filing of VAT returns
Bank reconciliations
Providing basic tax advice
Daily use of accounting software
Dealing with correspondence from HMRC in regards to queries and correspondence
Customer service - answering telephone calls and emails and dealing with queries and complaints
Work as an integral team member to support and achieve the Company one team goal.
Acting as an ambassador for the company and supporting and promoting the Company objectives and themes, promoting the highest standards of behaviour and attitude.
Commit to own professional development, enhancing and improving skills and knowledge to the benefit of all.
Using one's knowledge, experience, and skillset to enhance, teach and develop other staff within the business, as appropriate, to help future proof the company
Required Skills and Qualifications
To be studying towards AAT, ACA, ACCA
Enthusiastic and diligent
Excellent written and verbal communication
Excellent time keeping with the ability to prioritise workload to ensure all tasks are carried out on a daily basis and all deadlines are met.
To have strong communication skills with the ability to coordinate, organise and take responsibility for performance.
IT Skills with competent use of word and excel.
Knowledge of company and personal taxation
Understanding of company VAT preparation
