Position Summary:
Apply and interpret standard scientific or engineering theories, concepts and techniques in a scientific or engineering specialty requiring a working knowledge of related disciplines.
Work on a wide range of problems where causal relationships are progressively difficult to establish and the use of creative thinking is required.
Extends the responsibilities of Development Chemist.
Report to Lab Manager, or more senior R&D personnel.
Essential Functions:
Prepare project requests or research proposals on assigned projects.
Create ideas for new products or approaches and conduct individual investigations.
Apply creative approach to problem solving and formulation. Test various technologies for use in coatings.
Analyze results, report findings, and provide guidance on viability.
Execute laboratory projects independently or as part of a team and continuously assess effectiveness.
Develop research findings, draw conclusions, and make recommendations.
Prepare and present written or oral reports. Contribute to research programs of others through communications and participation in technical work groups and design teams. Responsible for meeting project goals within time, quality and budget constraints.
Utilize initiative to keep projects on track. Coordinate work of others, anticipate, and resolve priority conflicts. Supervise efforts of technicians. Acquire and maintain technical expertise in the coatings industry and its technologies. Understand and follow safety, technical, and quality procedures using Carboline or industry standards.
Train others as required.
Ensure subordinates are trained and utilize appropriate procedures. Communicate and verify technical information directly to various departments, suppliers, customers, and other RPM companies. Work with hazardous materials.
Capable of understanding and using appropriate information and personal protective equipment.
Train subordinates or others and ensure their compliance. Maintain clean, safe working areas.
Assess working condition of equipment. Alerts others to deviation, hazards or quality issues. Take an active role in hazard recognition and injury prevention by following all safety rules & regulations and immediately report all injuries and incidents to your supervisor. Follow all environmental rules and regulations to ensure hazardous materials and waste are managed in an environmentally responsible manner. Receives annual training in RCRA Hazardous Waste and Carboline's Contingency Plan and will adhere to this training while performing their job. Perform additional duties as assigned Commit to the Company's safety and quality programs
Requirements:
4-year Chemistry or related science degree 3+ years chemistry experience, or more advanced chemistry or related science degree with no required experience.
Physical Requirements:
Lifting up to 50 pounds; exposure to chemicals including but not limited to: Amines, Polyamides, Isocyanates, Epoxies, Alkyds, Acrylics, and certain inorganic compounds.
Personal protective equipment would be utilized.
Must pass annual respirator medical evaluation and pulmonary function test as required by OSHA.

This Engineering Supervisor position is based in the area of Dewsbury, the hours of work are flexible, between 6am - 5pm, Monday to Friday days only, 8 hours only.This Engineering Supervisor position offers a basic salary of circa £50,000 DOE, plus 5% KPI bonus, company pension matched to 10% and generous holiday allowance.

Duties of Engineering Supervisor:
Undertaking site improvement projects and leading the maintenance team
The deployment of maintenance plans and systems, driving PPMs and addressing any reactive maintenance on site
Being an integral part of a small team of engineers working Monday to Friday
Responsible for leading and implementing PPM schedules
Responsible for identifying and eliminating recurring plant issues through engineering improvements and RCA

Experience and Qualifications Required for Engineering Supervisor:
Engineering Qualified - City & Guilds Level 3, ONC, BTEC Level 3 AND NVQ Level 3 in Mechanical Engineering OR UK Engineering Apprenticeship in Engineering or equivalent
Strong Health and Safety awareness
Previous experience as a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer, Maintenance Technician, Engineering Maintenance Technician, Lead Engineer etc
Previous experience of undertaking maintenance within a manufacturing environment
Previous experience of the deployment and application of PPM activities and reactive maintenance

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Test, Survey, and Repair Technician to join our innovative client in the heart of Poole.
This role involves testing, inspecting, diagnosing, and repairing products to ensure functionality and quality standards.
You will contribute to maintaining high performance across manufacturing and engineering processes while adhering to company health and safety policies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform testing and inspection of manufactured and purchased products using relevant specifications and equipment.
- Diagnose faults and repair units, including wiring, card changes, and component-level replacements.
- Conduct surveys to assess product conditions and identify issues.
- Write detailed reports on test results, failures, and defective components.
- Provide support for prototype equipment, offering specialist advice on testing requirements.
- Maintain and improve test equipment and manufacturing processes.
- Work collaboratively to ensure deadlines and customer requirements are met.
- Follow health and safety guidelines and contribute to continuous improvement efforts.
Qualifications and SkillsEssential:
- Level 3 qualification in Electrical and Electronics or equivalent experience.
- Strong understanding of electrical/electronic test practices.
- Ability to read circuit diagrams and fault-find to component level.
- Knowledge of electrical/electronic test equipment and ESD procedures.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and programming.
Desirable:
- Experience in IPC 620 and 610 standards for repair.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Confident problem solver with the ability to meet tight deadlines.
- Self-motivated, team player, with a "can-do" attitude.
