Due to an increase in business and growth, my client is looking to recruit a Mechanical Design Engineer who will be responsible for the design of automation machinery, as part of a dynamic and growing design team.
Working alongside engineers and other industry professionals, to conceptualise, develop and enhance these solutions, whilst also contributing to the evolution of their processes
The Company
A company with in excess of 40 years experience providing bespoke turnkey automation, ranging from fully integrated high throughput cells to stand-alone machines.
Key Responsibilities
- Working and collaborating within a multidisciplinary team to produce innovative design solutions for a wide variety of industries, from packaging to ocular and medical
- Producing detailed machine and factory layouts using 3D CAD.
- Producing comprehensive bill of materials and parts lists, for all mechanical aspects of a project
- Engaging in regular meetings with the Project Team, Suppliers and Clients, to understand and execute the mechanical requirements of automation projects
- Provide technical support during the build, testing and commissioning project phases
The Right Person
The successful Mechanical Design Engineer will will have Mechanical design/engineering experience within the automation industry as well as the following key skills:
- Highly proficient in 3D CAD (Ideally Solidworks) with experience designing for manufacture
- Mechanical design/engineering experience within the automation industry
- Previous experience using Solidworks PDM or similar would be advantageous

Key Responsibilities

- Adhere to quality systems, including using Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) to document changes.

- Participate in research, development, and product testing as agreed with the Division Director.

The Right Person
The successful Electrical Design Engineer will have a minimum of 3 years experience and be educated to degree level in Electrical Engineering as well as the following key skills:
- A high level of competency with Autodesk AutoCAD Electrical is required
- A CAD software package such as Autodesk Inventor, Creo, Siemens would be an advantage.
- Knowledge of, and experience of designing in accordance with IEC 60204 and IEC 61439.
- Experience of the product CE marking process and DFMEA.

Engineering Projects: Lead the planning, design, and execution of engineering projects, ensuring they align with business objectives. Ensure all engineering activities comply with industry standards, regulations, and company policies.

Identify opportunities for cost savings through process optimization, energy efficiency, and resource management.
Compliance and Safety: Ensure all maintenance and engineering activities comply with OSHA, environmental, and other relevant regulatory requirements. Promote a strong safety culture, ensuring that all team members adhere to safety protocols and procedures. Lead incident investigations and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
Advanced degree preferred. Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in maintenance, reliability, and engineering roles, with at least 5 years in a managerial position. Strong knowledge of maintenance management systems (CMMS), reliability engineering principles, and project management methodologies. Experience with root cause analysis (RCA), failure mode and effects analysis (FMEA), and reliability-centered maintenance (RCM). Autocad proficiency Completed formal training in and/or have at least 1 year experience applying continuous improvement tools such as TPM, Six Sigma, 5S, Lean Manufacturing, etc. Proven track record of managing complex engineering projects from concept to completion.
