DAP is looking to hire a Product Development Scientist in R&D Department. As a R&D Scientist, you will plan/Perform experiments and generate general test data and analytical data with minimal guidance from senior R&D personnel; perform basic data analysis.
Participate in and help drive activities that improve the operation of the R&D function.
Collaborate with other R&D personnel and participate in cross-functional teams to help drive innovation.
Proven success in previous role.
Responsibilities:
Develop and carry out experimental plans for new product development, product modification and perform basic analysis of experimental results.
Demonstrate competency in formulation practices, complex problem-solving, innovative solutions, and addressing scientific challenges. Demonstrate the ability to operate analytical and material characterization equipment, generate high quality data, and perform basic analysis of the data generated. Assist senior R&D Personnel to develop manufacturing procedures for new products and work collaboratively at plant trials with plant engineers and quality control managers.
Demonstrate knowledge of basic process steps for plant trials. Adhere to Laboratory Quality Management System (QMS) practices and participate in QMS audits.
Perform laboratory equipment calibration and maintenance.
Assist in providing technical support for marketing, sales, and customer support including planning/conducting product demonstrations for customers, trade shows, Etc.
Adhere to laboratory safety practices and participate in all safety and housekeeping initiatives.
Demonstrate ability to independently assemble information for and generate highly effective written reports and oral presentations to communicate within R&D and with cross-functional teams.
Requirements:
Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry, Polymer Science, Materials Science, or related field with 5 years' experience of relevant experience A passion for chemistry, science, problem solving, and creativity. Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication and presentation skills. A breadth of technical knowledge and a keen interest in learning from others. Possess innovation skills evident as risk taking, result seeking, and idea integration.
Hands-on bench experience with various chemistries (latex, moisture curing, reactive, etc.) in sealants, adhesives, coatings, repair or related field. Bench chemistry experience and familiarity with various analytical techniques: wet chemistry, titrations, microscopy, rheology, thermal analysis, tensile testing, etc. Experience operating lab scale mixing equipment as well as lab scale analytical and testing apparatus.

Maintain oversight of the EHS function at the Corsicana Chemical Manufacturing Plant to ensure EHS compliance and risk are evaluated and managed appropriately. Assist EHS team and SLT Managers in translating our division's EHS, Process Safety and Security goals into site-specific policies, procedures, and programs. Ensure that the Corsicana Plant implements and sustain effective EHS management systems in accordance with external and internal standards (e.g., Responsible Care, ISO, OHSAS, Energy Services' Integrated Management System, etc.) Interface with federal and local regulatory agencies on behalf of the Corsicana Plant to successfully demonstrate compliance legal, business and customer requirements. Participate as a member of the Corsicana Plant Site Leadership Team (SLT). Monitor the execution of EHS, Process Safety, and Security compliance-related engineering and capital projects at the Corsicana Plant to ensure completion in accordance with deadlines as established with local and federal agencies. Manage EHS compliance tools and processes, both internal and external. Advocate the consistent use of EHS compliance tools and processes throughout the division to report incidents, document incident investigations, and track closure of associated corrective actions in a timely manner. Ensure root cause investigations are conducted for those incidents with the greatest learning potential, lessons learned documents are generated and shared across the network and throughout the company. Audit effectiveness of root cause investigation action items Lead, or apply subject matter expertise in support of, RPM/Tremco EHS goals and objectives as requested. Monitor changes in EHS, Process Safety, and Security laws and regulations, assess the impact of the changes on the organization, and develop guidance documents to satisfy new/modified EHS, Process Safety, and Security requirements.

Position Summary:
The Continuous Improvement Engineer will be a part of Carboline Global Continuous Improvement Team supporting the development and execution of continuous improvement projects at the Lake Charles, LA manufacturing facility.

Specifically, regarding recovery plans for off-specification, obsolete, and problem finished goods. Monitors the consistency of production using SQC, SPC, or other appropriate techniques. Strong communicator with top-notch presentation skills who can develop and provide training to production personnel on matters concerning formulation, materials handling, processing, and quality procedures. Follow all environmental rules and regulations to ensure hazardous materials and waste are managed in an environmentally responsible manner. Leadership role in effort to recertify and reclaim Non-Conforming material.
Works in coordination with QC and R&D to isolate, test and recertify Non-Conforming material that can be repackaged and sold. Observing production processes, conducting research, and finding ways to increase efficiency and quality. Continuously challenging the status quo understood as a day-to-day activity in our operating areas. Proactive problem solving based on statistical analysis of corrective actions / assigned by Engineering Director, Plant Manufacturing Manager, QA, EHS projects. Selection and development of tools and fixtures for improvements. Perform additional duties as assigned. Commitment to the Company's Safety and Quality programs.
Take an active role in hazard recognition and injury prevention by following all safety rules & regulations.
Requirements:
4 years Chemistry, Engineering degree or equivalent experience, minimum 3 years' experience in a CI role. Formal training in Lean and/or Six Sigma methodologies preferred Green Belt. Ability to read and interpret documents such as procedure manuals, operating and maintenance manuals and safety rules.
Ability to use a computer for all company required processes, procedures, and trainings.

Principle Accountabilities:

Design to incorporate Lean principles to improve reliability, ease of use & maintenance, minimize changeover times, and to minimize production losses. Construction Management - Manage contractors, technicians, skilled trades, and internal resources to safely install and startup manufacturing systems.
This includes working with the plant operational teams on training, standard operating procedures, and identification of spare parts. Provides technical support and consultation to the Quality Control department.
Specifically, regarding recovery plans for off-specification, obsolete, and problem finished goods. Monitors the consistency of production using SQC, SPC, or other appropriate techniques. Strong communicator with top-notch presentation skills who can develop and provide training to production personnel on matters concerning formulation, materials handling, processing, and quality procedures. Follow all environmental rules and regulations to ensure hazardous materials and waste are managed in an environmentally responsible manner. Leadership role in effort to recertify and reclaim Non-Conforming material.
Works in coordination with QC and R&D to isolate, test and recertify Non-Conforming material that can be repackaged and sold. Observing production processes, conducting research, and finding ways to increase efficiency and quality. Continuously challenging the status quo understood as a day-to-day activity in our operating areas. Proactive problem solving based on statistical analysis of corrective actions / assigned by Engineering Director, Plant Manufacturing Manager, QA, EHS projects. Selection and development of tools and fixtures for improvements. Perform additional duties as assigned. Commitment to the Company's Safety and Quality programs.
Take an active role in hazard recognition and injury prevention by following all safety rules & regulations.
Requirements:
4 years Chemistry, Engineering degree or equivalent experience, minimum 3 years' experience in a CI role. Formal training in Lean and/or Six Sigma methodologies preferred Green Belt. Ability to read and interpret documents such as procedure manuals, operating and maintenance manuals and safety rules.
Ability to use a computer for all company required processes, procedures, and trainings.
