Key Responsibilities for the Senior Mechanical Engineer:
- Utilise innovative design skills in electro-mechanical mechanisms and precision machinery.
- Serve as the technical lead within a small, multidisciplinary project design team to deliver high-quality solutions that meet cost, time, and quality objectives.
- Lead the creation of designs using 3D CAD software, specifically SolidWorks.

Essential
- Experience in the design of complex mechanisms and structures.
- Proven experience in the design of systems from original concept design, produced from a specification, through to production in a lead role.
- Ability to analyse the loads on, and design solutions for drive mechanisms and motor systems.
- Understand the application of machining, casting, fabrication, and moulding techniques.
- Have experience in the use of a 3D CAD system (ideally SolidWorks).
Desirable -
- Experience of working in the Defence or related sectors particularly in R&D and manufacturing, such as scientific equipment manufacturers, special purpose machine builders or high-end customisation companies.
- Experience and knowledge of coaching in support of talent development within the team.
- Previous experience in a similar level position in a Senior level role, preferably in a small or medium-sized company and/or relevant business model.

My client is one of Europes largest and most successful electrical engineering consultancies.
The business is performing incredibly well and as a result, are looking for the next Principal Electrical Engineer to come on board and help drive the business forward.
The Role - Principal Electrical Engineer:
- Working in close collaboration with the business development team to identify target clients
- Creating and delivering consultancy proposals to clients, including pricing and technical approach
- Operating as project and technical lead on projects, including supervising team members where necessary
- Working to support the technical and consultancy development of more junior members of the team
- Attending conferences, seminars and industry events to help the business maintain their standing as the premier name in their space
- Working closely with clients to ensure that they are satisfied with the work being completed
Minimum Skills / Experience Required - Principal Electrical Engineer:
- Expertise and competency with Switchgears, Transformers and Generators
- Expertise and competency with Asset Design/Assurance, Condition Assessment and Failure Investigation
- Proven and demonstrable experience in delivering large-scale commercial projects to time, budget and client satisfaction
- Prior experience in helping win engineering consultancy projects
- Experience in leading project teams and keeping them focused on project deliverables
- Able to commit to national and international travel around 10-25% of the time
The Package - Principal Electrical Engineer:
- Starting salary up to £60-80K per annum
- Annual salary review
- WFH 2 days per week
- 25 days plus statutory holidays
- Pension contribution of 6% matched by the business
