GENERAL PURPOSE OF THE JOB:
The Specification Specialist reviews and develops project specifications and Scopes of Work to ensure compliance with local building codes, industry standards, and company standards, using their expertise to select appropriate items based on project requirements.
We are looking for an Specification Specialist to support our Pacific Northwest Region.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Develop AIA MasterFormat specifications that comply with Tremco requirements, purchasing agreements, local building codes, and industry standards (NRCA, SPRI, Factory Mutual, etc.).
Develop specifications in compliance with IBC, IECC, and Tremco-specific requirements & standards
Develop specifications based on individual project Scopes of Work, using expertise, experience, and best practices to select appropriate items.
Assist Estimators in understanding specifications for bid preparation and pricing.
Calculate wind-uplift design pressures based on project specifics.
Understand and apply 3rd party test reports for Tremco systems for specifications
Identify and resolve service, process, or quality system problems; ensure proper resolution implementation.
Implement best practices to enhance the efficiency and accuracy of the specification development process.
Stay updated with compliance policies to ensure specifications and drawings align with contract agreements.
Monitor and ensure compliance with evolving building codes, industry regulations, and roofing standards by staying current with building code changes; escalate and implement necessary adjustments in design and construction practices.
Ensure specification work is completed in a timely manner
Ensure specification work is compliant, clear, concise, correct, and complete.
Ensure compatibility of specified products.
Collaborate, coordinate, and communicate with Program Managers, Construction Managers, Sales, Estimators, and Field Technicians throughout the specification development process to ensure contract requirements are specified.
Communicate with Product & Technical as needed throughout the specification development process.
Provide support to the Specification Specialist team and Product & Technical Solutions Department to achieve company-wide goals and targets.
Maintain educational credentials
Responsibilities include any and all responsibilities deemed necessary by the manager
Utilize Tremco's platforms for job and data management (E-builder, Spec Writer, Salesforce, Microsoft Teams, etc.).
Proficient in Tremco's products and systems, including application, use, coverage rates, compatibility, and limitations.
Proficient in UL Product iQ, RoofNav, Florida Building Code (NEMO reports) and NRCA Roof Wind Designer websites/programs. These additional duties may also be required depending on region:
Prepare and review addenda and pre-bid documentation as needed.
Create AutoCAD drawings from detailed Scopes of Work.
Use established cost models to build a price for company bids
Assist & train Sales Reps with the Specification process
Assist & train in proposal/presentation preparation for key accounts
EDUCATION:
Bachelor's degree or applicable 3-5 years of experience in Specifications
EXPERIENCE:
3-5 years of applicable experience in Specifications; 2+ years of in-field experience preferred.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
American Institute of Architects (AIA) member
IIBEC member
Construction Specifications Institute (CSI) member

Proven automotive aftermarket experience — ideally from a parts manufacturer, supplier, motor factor, or technical support environment
Strong understanding of product application data, cataloguing standards, TecDoc, MAM, Autocat or similar systems
Hands‑on knowledge of ignition, engine management or electronic components
Experience analysing technical enquiries, warranty trends or product performance data
Excellent attention to detail with a structured, methodical approach
Ability to coordinate workload and support a small technical team
Confident communicator able to collaborate across Sales, Marketing, Supply Chain and EMEA teams
Understanding of warranty processes, quality control and product validation
Comfortable attending exhibitions, seminars and customer events when required
What You'll Be Doing
Support the coordination and day‑to‑day guidance of the Technical Services team
Maintain and improve product application databases, ensuring accuracy across UK and EMEA systems
Assist with the creation of technical content, bulletins and product information for new ranges
Monitor range coverage, ensuring catalogues and technical data remain up to date
Track technical enquiries, analyse call log trends and recommend corrective actions
Support the processing of warranty and damaged product returns, identifying root causes
Work collaboratively with Sales, Marketing, Supply Chain and Technical teams to deliver a complete product and service offering
Attend exhibitions, seminars, PR events and customer activities as required
Build strong relationships with internal teams, external customers and third‑party data partners

Essential Skills/Experience:
At least three years' experience in operational risk management or a related discipline.

Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret information, identify trends and recommend practical solutions.

Analyse and interpret risk data, presenting findings and recommending practical risk mitigation and process improvement solutions.
Coordinate and support business continuity and recovery exercises, with a focus on operational resilience.
Provide effective challenge and support informed decision-making through robust risk analysis.

The Opportunity
We are currently recruiting for a skilled Maintenance Engineer to join a well-established manufacturing environment.
This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in supporting production through both planned and reactive maintenance, ensuring machinery and equipment operate at peak performance.
Key Responsibilities
Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and respond to breakdowns efficiently
Diagnose faults and conduct repairs on plant and machinery
Install, commission, and support new and existing equipment
Support continuous improvement, identifying and resolving repeat issues
Maintain accurate electronic maintenance records and stock information
Work closely with production teams to minimise downtime
Assist with machinery moves and site improvements
Ensure compliance with health & safety standards, including risk assessments
Support TPM initiatives across the site
Communicate effectively with colleagues, suppliers, and contractors
Provide guidance to apprentices or new starters where required
About You
To succeed in this role, you will have:
A completed Maintenance Apprenticeship or relevant qualifications
Experience working with CNC machinery
Strong fault-finding skills, ideally with Fanuc control systems and PLCs
Understanding of risk assessments and safe working practices
Good IT and communication skills
A proactive, team-focused approach
Desirable:
IOSH certification
Specific machine tool knowledge
Leadership or mentoring experience
