- Strong technical knowledge of vehicle systems and diagnostics

- Previous experience in a Workshop Controller or Management role

Job Title: Toolmaker / Maintenance Technician (3-Month Contract) Location: Droitwich, UK Rate: £20-£40 per hour Duration: 3 months
About the Role: We are seeking an experienced Toolmaker / Maintenance Technician to join a busy, well-equipped toolroom supporting high-volume automotive plastic injection moulding.
You'll be part of a close-knit team but will need to work independently, meeting deadlines and solving problems creatively under pressure.
Strong communication skills are essential for reporting effectively to the Tool Room Shift Coordinator.
Key Responsibilities:
Service and maintain injection mould tools following TPM schedules.
Repair injection mould tools following breakdowns.
Support production at the moulding press with repairs and maintenance as required.
Carry out minor modifications and improvements to existing injection mould tools.
Mandatory Requirements:
Comply with all health and safety legislation.
Carry out injection mould tool servicing using set procedures.
Knowledge of electrical, hydraulic, and water systems on injection mould tools.
Strong fault-finding and problem-solving abilities under tight deadlines.
Ability to work on production injection mould tools in the moulding press.
Effective time management and record-keeping skills.
Basic computer skills (training available if required).
Qualifications & Experience:
Time-served apprentice toolmaker with ONC/HNC in Mechanical Engineering or
Minimum 5 years hands-on experience with plastic injection mould tooling, preferably in the automotive industry.
Strong bench-hand skills.
Competent operation of milling, turning, and grinding machines.
Desirable Skills (training provided if needed):
Knowledge of injection mould hot runner systems.
Mould tool polishing.
Laser/MIG/TIG welding.
Overhead gantry crane certification.
Safe tool handling practices.

Shift Pattern This role operates on a structured 24/7 shift rota:
4 on / 4 off shift pattern
2-day shifts followed by 2-night shifts
Callout participation during rest days
After 7 cycles, you receive 18 consecutive days off
The first 2 and last 2 of those days are on call
This schedule offers excellent extended time off while maintaining strong operational support on site.

Contracted overtime covers callout hours associated with the shift rota.

GENERAL PURPOSE OF THE JOB: The Machine Operator starts, troubleshoots, and operates manufacturing equipment safely.
There are three Machine Operator levels (I, II, & III).

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings to determine dimensions and layout requirements.
Accurately measure materials using tape measures and other precision tools.
Operate circular saws, specialized saw equipment (including setup and maintenance), and basic cutting tools.
Operate lift trucks and forklifts to move and stage materials after completing certification requirements.
Safely handle and transport materials, including lifting up to 50 lbs as needed.
Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) to ensure consistency, quality, and efficiency in pre-cut operations.
Collaborate with team members to maintain a productive and quality-focused work environment.
Actively participate in team meetings and report discrepancies or quality issues to supervisors.
Verify materials meet required quality standards before advancing to the next phase of production.
Perform routine inspection and maintenance of cutting tools, saw equipment, and lift trucks to ensure safe operation.
Cross-train on other production functions as business need dictates.
Clean and maintain assigned area to ensure proper functionality.
Report and assist with resolving safety, quality, and mechanical issues.
Participate in the continuous improvement process.
If appropriate, set up and operate various off-line and secondary equipment.
