Carboline is seeking a Lean Manufacturing Intern at our Manufacturing Plant in Lake Charles, LA. This Intern will work alongside our Continuous Improvement Manager, Plant Managers, and other CI personnel, reporting directly to the Continuous Improvement Manager, with dotted line of accountability to the local Plant Manager.
Minimum Requirements:
High School Diploma or GED, additionally the completion of at least 30 credit hours toward a degree in Industrial Engineering or a related field is desirable, but not essential.
Experience related to either manufacturing, industrial, or engineering or enrolling in a program in a related field is also desirable. This paid intern will work roughly 30 - 40 hours per week from May-August.
Must be pursuing a four-year degree in Engineering or a similar field.
Physical Requirements:
This position may require light physical activity and computer usage for an extended period of time - up to 8 hours in a day.
Work environments may require the use of hearing protection, eye protection, and steel toed shoes.
Essential Functions:
Intern will work alongside our Continuous Improvement Manager, Plant Managers, and other CI personnel performing the following duties: Waste identification and data collection to prioritize resource allocation Daily accountability to continuous improvement framework Participating in, and eventually leading, Focused Improvement Team (FIT) events (level 3 Kaizen) FIT Event preparation and Follow-Up Cost savings calculation and management Develop ideas and make suggestions that can be implemented within the plant to continuously improve performance, productivity, communication, and follow-up Handle special assignments as needed. Perform additional duties as assigned Commit to the Company's safety and quality programs
