Are you a hands-on engineer looking for a varied and rewarding role? My client is a leading provider of electro-mechanical services, is looking for a Site Service Engineer to join our team in Cheddar.
This role offers a fantastic opportunity to work on-site with clients across multiple industries, carrying out repairs, maintenance, and servicing of rotating equipment.
Commutable from Cheddar, Draycott, Axbridge, Wedmore, Badgworth and Winscombe.
As a Site Service Engineer, you will be responsible for diagnosing faults, carrying out on-site repairs, and performing maintenance on a variety of electro-mechanical equipment.
This role will involve travel to customer sites, providing excellent service and technical expertise.
The Role: Site Service Engineer
- Perform on-site repairs and servicing of motors, pumps, gearboxes, and other rotating equipment.
- Diagnose faults and carry out mechanical and electrical maintenance.
- Work closely with customers to ensure minimal downtime and maximum efficiency.
- Assist with installations, removals, and commissioning of new equipment.
- Maintain accurate service records and ensure all work complies with health and safety standards.
Minimum Skills / Experience Required: Site Service Engineer
- Experience in mechanical or electrical engineering, ideally in a field-based role.
- Strong knowledge of rotating equipment such as motors, pumps, and gearboxes.
- Ability to diagnose and repair faults on-site efficiently.
- Full UK driving license (essential).
- A proactive, problem-solving attitude with excellent customer service skills.

- Base Salary £13.50-£17.50 per hour (negotiable depending on experience)
- Day shifts 8am-5pm Mon-Fri 40 hour week

The Role: Skilled Machinist
- Operating manual lathes and milling machines to fabricate and repair components for electric motors, pumps, gearboxes, and fans.
- Performing mechanical fitting tasks, including assembly, disassembly, and maintenance of rotating equipment.
- Collaborating with engineers to diagnose issues and determine repair strategies for various mechanical systems.
- Ensuring precision and quality in machining tasks to meet specified tolerances and standards
- Adhering to safety protocols and maintaining a clean and organised workshop environment
- Participating in training programs to develop skills in CNC machining, as the company provides training in this area
Minimum Skills / Experience Required: Manual Machinist
- Proven Experience with Conventional Machines: Skilled in operating manual lathes and milling machines for precision machining tasks
- Mechanical Fitting Expertise: Experience in assembly, disassembly, and maintenance of rotating equipment such as motors, pumps, gearboxes, and fans
- Reading Technical Drawings: Ability to interpret engineering drawings to manufacture or repair components to specification
- Machining to Fine Tolerances
- Experience with using measuring tools (e.g., micrometers, calipers) to ensure accuracy and quality
- Understanding of Materials: Familiarity with machining a range of materials, including steel, alloys, and other metals
- CNC Experience: Some knowledge of CNC machining is beneficial, especially if they aim to transition into CNC roles

To carry out planned maintenance and responsive repairs to all vehicles and plant in use and third party contractors.
To ensure that all planned maintenance and responsive repairs are carried out to the necessary standard as laid down by the Vehicle Operators Standards Agency (VOSA) and manufacturers procedures in order to maximize vehicle/plant efficiency and availability to end user departments.
Key Responsibilities:
Undertake the planned maintenance and responsive repairs.
Perform maintenance, servicing, and repairs on a range of vehicles, including vans, PSVs, and HGVs, ensuring compliance with safety and operational standards.
Prepare HGV and PSV vehicles for annual test to all latest construction and use regulations and MOT testers manual standards.
Ensure all planned maintenance and responsive repairs are accurately recorded.
Diagnose and rectify faults efficiently, minimizing vehicle downtime.
Conduct routine inspections and prepare vehicles for MOT and compliance testing.
Maintain accurate service and repair records.
Liaise with the Fleet Vehicle Workshop Stores to insure adequate vehicle spares, drivers and supervisors.
Requirements:
Valid HGV License.
Relevant qualifications, such as NVQ/City & Guilds in Vehicle Maintenance or equivalent.
Experience in the repair and maintenance of HGV and PSV vehicles.
Must be mobile and able to travel and visit sites.
Able to work a 35hrs per week.
Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently.
