Title: Technical Director of Application Development
Location: St.
Louis, MO (On-Site)
Summary:
Carboline is seeking a Technical Director of Application Development to lead and advance our product innovation strategy at our Research & Development Lab.
This influential leadership role is responsible for aligning technical resources, research initiatives, and corporate priorities to drive business growth and deliver market-leading solutions.
Working closely with Marketing, Commercial, and Executive Leadership teams, the Technical Director will oversee the development and commercialization of new technologies, guide projects through the stage gate process, and ensure innovation efforts translate into meaningful value for our customers and the business.
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Chemistry or related scientific discipline, or equivalent experience.
Minimum 10 years of R&D experience and 5 years of supervisory or management experience required.
Proven ability to lead technical teams, drive cross-functional collaboration, and manage complex product development initiatives.
Must pass a Jaeger Eye Test.
Physical Requirements:
This position requires minimal physical activity but does require computer usage for extended periods of time, up to 8 hours per day.
Exposure to chemicals may include, but is not limited to, Amines, Polyamides, Isocyanates, Epoxies, Alkyds, Acrylics, and certain inorganic compounds.
No unusual lifting or exertion requirements are associated with this position.
Travel requirement: 10-20%.

Leads and develops Laboratory Managers, Group Leaders, Supervisors, and technical teams, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
Drives product development strategy by aligning resources and priorities with corporate objectives and market needs.
Plays a key role in establishing and prioritizing corporate projects through active participation in the Stage Gate Process.
Oversees project execution and helps ensure timely delivery of high-impact product development initiatives.
Coordinates and directs the resolution of product-related issues across all pertinent business units.
Partners with the Vice President, Global R&D to establish and execute both short- and long-term laboratory goals and objectives.
Assists in evaluating laboratory performance and recommends organizational improvements to support corporate growth and innovation objectives.
Provides input and guidance for departmental budgeting and resource planning.
Communicates laboratory performance, project progress, and development milestones through regular product development reviews.
Supports talent development initiatives, including technical training, leadership development, succession planning, and employee growth programs.
Reviews product development data and approves the technical release of new products.
Conducts regular staff meetings to communicate priorities, initiatives, and organizational updates.
Reviews and approves or denies requests for the release of proprietary information.
Participates in RPM technical meetings and facilitates technical collaboration across the organization.
Supports and champions all Carboline quality initiatives.
Enhances Carboline's technical reputation through active participation in professional organizations such as AMPP, ASTM, and other industry associations.
Delivers technical presentations to customers, industry organizations, sales teams, and internal stakeholders.
Takes an active role in hazard recognition and injury prevention by following all safety rules and regulations and promptly reporting injuries and incidents.
Follows all environmental regulations to ensure hazardous materials and waste are managed responsibly.
Receives annual RCRA Hazardous Waste and Carboline Contingency Plan training and adheres to all associated requirements.

The WTI Field Resource Foreman (Foreman) oversees and performs the safety, efficiency, and quality of the WTI field service business.

Complete the Daily Hazard Analysis form and submit it to the Supervisors as applicable.
Foreman also ensures that all technicians complete Daily Hazard Analysis.
Ensure all project communication is completed before the start of any WTI project.

WTI Field Resources Supervisor (Supervisor) daily and before starting new projects (ensure any/all communication with the Sales Reps is also shared with the Supervisor.
Sales Rep weekly and/or as needed and before new projects.
WTI crew members will discuss the scope of work, daily tasks, and the overall schedule.
Customer/Client (as needed or required by the Sales Rep) daily and/or weekly.
Efficient management of projects will include managing the crew's start and end times, daily productivity (hours, man-days, etc.), and ensuring tools and materials are available to complete the assigned project safely and efficiently.
Complete the project per the approved scope of work or specification and after issuance by the Supervisor.
Using a designated company-mandated reporting tool, the Foreman will complete an end-of-day and/or end-of-project walk-through to ensure the quality of workmanship and address any punch list items before leaving the job site.
These items will include updates on work performed, materials consumed (T&M projects), and supplies purchased.
Ensure all WTI Field Resources Reps (Field Reps) have a professional appearance and customer interaction while completing services for a customer.
Responsible for ordering, tracking, and monitoring inventory and ensuring quarterly cycle counts are completed and submitted timely.
Provide pricing for self-performing projects over $12,500.
Submit all proposals of over $20,000 to the Supervisor for review and approval before submitting them to the GS Administrator for logging and distribution to the Sales Rep.
Monitor and manage the Field Reps.
Consult with the Supervisor to take appropriate steps or corrective measures to resolve employee work-related issues and necessary documentation.
Work with the Supervisor to elevate the issues to HR as required.
Coordinate with the Supervisor to create project schedules.
Review time reports daily and make necessary corrections with the admin team.
Attending all appropriate calls, meetings, and trainings.
Perform any other duties and/or projects as required or assigned by the Supervisor or Regional Business Manager.
EXPERIENCE:
Minimum of five years of experience in the roofing industry.
Must be thoroughly familiar with built-up, EPDM, PVC, and other forms of low-slope roofing systems, as well as metal and other steep-sloop roofing systems, and how to repair them properly.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
30-hour OSHA certification
Registered Roof Observer (RRO) preferred but not required. OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

GENERAL PURPOSE OF THE JOB:
The Production Operator starts, troubleshoots, and operates manufacturing equipment safely.
There are three Production Operator levels (I, II, & III).
The level will be determined by experience, ability to assume various roles on the plant floor, and demonstrated ability to independently troubleshoot and problem-solve machine issues resulting in efficient cycles and minimal downtime.
The Production Operator will operate production equipment, including industrial blenders, in accordance with the established production schedule.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Perform work in a safe manner by following all written and verbally communicated safety rules and procedures.
Follow standard work procedures to operate and maintain assigned machine(s).
Routinely meet or exceed production output rates per standards.
Ensure product meets certain tolerances and specifications.
Perform routine inspections per quality standards.
Understand production instructions.
Maintain accurate paperwork.
Inspects equipment, structures, and materials to identify problems or defects prior to production to ensure a clean, clear and safe work environment.
Reads and follows work orders and formulas to meet production specifications and schedules.
Examines materials, ingredients, or product per quality standards.
Weighs or measures materials, ingredients, and products per requirements.
Adds and mixes raw materials according to specifications.
Transfers materials, supplies, and products between work areas.
Discharges blenders of powder when necessary.
Ensures quality and conformity of blended products to meet standards.
Ensures equipment is set-up, cleaned, sanitized, and operating properly before, after and between runs.
Completes cleaning logs and notifies quality control for hygiene testing.
Records operational and production data on specified forms/production documents.
Reports malfunctions to a supervisor and confirms proactive and routine maintenance.
Conducts on-going assessment of quality control and operational procedures.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENT: No formal education required.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT: No prior experience or training.
OTHER SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND QUALIFICATIONS:
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Incumbent must be able to stand, walk, sit, use hands, reach, climb, balance, kneel, talk, hear, and lift up to 50 lbs.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Supervise and lead on-site crews performing AHU restoration, HVAC system cleaning, duct rehabilitation, coil cleaning, system sanitization, and related mechanical services.
Execute projects in accordance with contractual scope, applicable industry standards (NADCA, IICRC, SMACNA when applicable), and internal QA/QC requirements
Coordinate daily work activities to meet project schedules, manpower plans, and budget constraints
Serve as the on-site technical authority for mechanical system restoration and HVAC cleaning operations
Verify proper containment, protection of building systems, and cleanliness standards throughout the project
Document conditions before, during, and after work via written reports and photo documentation
Identify scope gaps, system deficiencies, and repair needs, and communicate findings to the Project Manager
Conduct daily and weekly on-site safety meetings and enforce company and OSHA safety policies
Ensure proper use of PPE, fall protection, lockout/tagout procedures, and confined-space protocols where applicable
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe jobsite at all times
Manage, direct, and mentor field technicians assigned to HVAC restoration and mechanical cleaning projects
Provide hands-on training to new and existing personnel on safety procedures, AHU restoration techniques, and equipment operation
Monitor crew performance and workmanship, addressing deficiencies and reinforcing expectations
Manage truck and trailer inventory, ensure equipment readiness, and report material usage
Verify proper handling, storage, and deployment of chemicals, tools, and consumables
The Field Supervisor is expected to competently perform and supervise:
AHU and mechanical component restoration
Sheet metal fabrication, modification, and field fit-up related to HVAC systems, ductwork, plenums, and equipment enclosures
Read and implement engineered mechanical drawings
HVAC and duct system cleaning and rehabilitation
Coil, fan, cabinet, and plenum cleaning
HVAC-related restoration services in occupied facilities
Interface with Project Managers, Building Sciences teams, and company leadership
Support cross-department coordination between remediation, restoration, and mechanical scopes
Represent the company professionally with clients, consultants, and site representatives
The salary range for applicants in this position generally ranges between $55,000 and $68,000.
