About the Role
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Field Service Engineer to join our team.
In this role, you will provide expert field support to our customers worldwide, ensuring the stable operation of our advanced hardware and software products such as fire control systems, naval electro-optical surveillance, and land/vehicle surveillance systems.
You will be responsible for installing, configuring, maintaining, supporting, and optimizing these systems to ensure total customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform offsite repairs, installation, and configuration of products and systems at customer locations
- Deliver after-sales support, servicing, and maintenance to ensure system reliability
- Generate clear and detailed post-visit reports including situation analysis and recommendations
- Assess, strip-down, repair, and test customer returns requiring service
- Support sales team demos, trials, and prepare demo equipment for customer presentations
- Test and evaluate new equipment and sensors alongside Sales and Engineering teams
- Prepare risk assessments and safe systems of work (SSOW) for installations and commissioning
- Lead factory acceptance testing (FAT) and participate in other customer activities as required
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the Customer Services function
Skills & Experience
Essential:
- Experience maintaining complex electrical and mechanical systems within military environments (naval, army, air force)
- Strong knowledge of electronics, microcontrollers, servo tuning, radar, optics, and communications systems
- Proficient mechanical and electro-mechanical skills with hardware and software troubleshooting expertise
- Strong understanding of PC architecture, IP networking, software updates, and problem diagnosis
- Excellent interpersonal and commercial skills to manage customer relationships diplomatically and professionally
- Ability to work in challenging environments including outdoor, marine, and heights settings
- Willingness to travel worldwide at short notice and work extended hours as necessary
Desirable:
- Clean UK driving licence including class C1 for company vehicle use
- Current interest or knowledge in army/navy equipment and procedures
