Assistant Branch Manager
We're looking for a hands-on Assistant Branch Manager / Branch Supervisor to join the flagship branch of a well-established, family-run distributor supplying the automotive, industrial, marine and leisure sectors across the Southwest.
You'll support the Branch Manager in leading an experienced team of around 15 across sales and distribution operations.
We'd especially like to hear from candidates with backgrounds in:
Electrical wholesale or distribution
Automotive parts distribution / motor factors
Industrial distribution, engineering supplies, builder's or plumber's merchants
(though this isn't essential - the right leadership skills and attitude are key!)
Branch-based role - commutable from Bristol, Bath, Long Ashton, Stoke Gifford, Portbury, Portishead, Congresbury, Chew Magna, Warmley, Saltford, Thornbury, Nailsea, Iron Acton, Yate, Keynsham, Clevedon

The Candidate
Proven supervisor / team leader experience (ideally in distribution or wholesale).
Hands-on sales experience and the ability to build strong customer relationships.
Understanding of branch operations.
Technical aptitude with a willingness to learn and share product knowledge.
Background in electrical, industrial, engineering wholesale or automotive parts distribution advantageous.
The Role
With a hands-on approach, you'll support the Branch Manager and deputise when required, covering:
Coaching, training and motivating the team.
Identifying local market opportunities to grow sales.
Overseeing all operational aspects, including distribution.
Liaising with head office teams to maintain stock levels.
Managing health & safety compliance.
Working to achieve branch targets and driving improvements to boost performance.

Payroll Manager
Urgent opportunity to lead and manage the payroll function ensuring accurate and timely processing across all employees, while ensuring compliance and driving transformation initiatives.
The role holder will review and implement improvements to payroll operations in order to drive efficiency and align with business strategic goals, whilst managing a team of 2 payroll professionals, although the role is very much hands on.
Role Responsibilities
Responsibilities will include:
Manage end-to-end payroll processing for all employees across UK and Europe - circa 1,000
Provide accurate payroll records and reports including but not limited to P45's, P60's, P11D's and gender pay gap
Support audits and ensure robust internal controls are in place
Ensure compliance with all relevant legislation, including HMRC, pensions, NI and Internal policies
Oversee benefits administration
Provide an efficient query service to employees relating to payroll
Supervise and develop the payroll team
Liaise with internal and external stakeholders (HMRC, pension service provider, payroll providers, finance etc.) to ensure accurate data flow and reporting
Produce detailed management reports

Essential skills will include:
Previous experience working within Payroll / HR on the Sage 50 Payroll software
Significant experience of processing a UK and EU monthly payroll and benefits administration
Extensive knowledge of all aspects of running payroll; HMRC, SSP, SMP, PAYE, RTI, Pension Processing, etc
In-depth knowledge of tax regulations

Our ideal candidate is a skilled negotiator with a proven track record in handling Fast Track RTA claims and possesses excellent communication skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Responsible for a high volume caseload of Fast Track Personal Injury RTA Portal claims, following the OIC process, making use of the firms Case Management Systems and using the agreed internal procedures and practices
- To progress your caseload in a manner to ensure that clients receive appropriate, professional, timely and pertinent legal advice, with regular contact, whilst managing their expectations
- To identify early those cases where proceedings would be tactically beneficial to litigate and to do so expeditiously
- Take a practical but commercial approach to settlements and advising clients as to litigation/cost risks
- To achieve and exceed various targets set in relation to settlements and issuing, without compromising the firms integrity
- To liaise appropriately and timely with sources, medical agencies, experts, third party insurers and other relevant parties to ensure that cases are pro-actively progressed
- Where necessary, and in accordance with the firms internal policies and procedures, to instruct Barristers to represent clients at hearings and obtain formal Advice over issues of quantum
- Perform to a high level in a target-orientated environment
Experience & Knowledge
- Previous experience of managing your own caseload of Fast Track RTA claims, or hands on experience of managing tasks relating to such cases
- Excellent negotiator with strong communication skills
- Competent working with a case management system and good knowledge of MS Office
- Good attention to detail and organisational skills
- Focus on delivering quality service to clients and the firm
