Position Summary:
The Continuous Improvement Engineer will be a part of Carboline Global Continuous Improvement Team supporting the development and execution of continuous improvement projects at the Lake Charles, LA manufacturing facility.
The person in this role will serve as a key resource to support plant optimization efforts regarding capacity, cost, safety, quality, and environmental improvements.
Essential Functions:
Understanding of Lean Manufacturing/Continuous Improvement methodologies and ability to teach and model them.
Investigating shortfalls, issues, and complaints in current business processes. Ability to influence, mentor, and coach to get results through others. Collaborates with operations manager and/or plant engineering on modification of equipment and processes to reduce cost and improve efficiency and quality. Works together with R&D, engineering, and plant resources to develop and implement continuous improvement projects. Collaborates with R&D on process development - Including reviewing and approving proposed manufacturing procedures for new products. Provides technical support and consultation to the Quality Control department.
Specifically, regarding recovery plans for off-specification, obsolete, and problem finished goods. Monitors the consistency of production using SQC, SPC, or other appropriate techniques. Strong communicator with top-notch presentation skills who can develop and provide training to production personnel on matters concerning formulation, materials handling, processing, and quality procedures. Follow all environmental rules and regulations to ensure hazardous materials and waste are managed in an environmentally responsible manner. Leadership role in effort to recertify and reclaim Non-Conforming material.
Works in coordination with QC and R&D to isolate, test and recertify Non-Conforming material that can be repackaged and sold. Observing production processes, conducting research, and finding ways to increase efficiency and quality. Continuously challenging the status quo understood as a day-to-day activity in our operating areas. Proactive problem solving based on statistical analysis of corrective actions / assigned by Engineering Director, Plant Manufacturing Manager, QA, EHS projects. Selection and development of tools and fixtures for improvements. Perform additional duties as assigned. Commitment to the Company's Safety and Quality programs.
Take an active role in hazard recognition and injury prevention by following all safety rules & regulations.
Requirements:
4 years Chemistry, Engineering degree or equivalent experience, minimum 3 years' experience in a CI role. Formal training in Lean and/or Six Sigma methodologies preferred Green Belt. Ability to read and interpret documents such as procedure manuals, operating and maintenance manuals and safety rules.
Ability to use a computer for all company required processes, procedures, and trainings.

Position Summary:
Applies all Carboline coatings to panels for use by customers, sales and R&D for testing purposes as well as for sales aids.
Participates in spray evaluations.
Essential Functions:
• Preparation of panels prior to coating.
Have a good understanding of the basic operation of hand and power tools, abrasive blast cabinet and pin welder.
To include minor maintenance of same. • Have a good understanding of how to operate as well as maintain mixing equipment, airless and conventional spray equipment to apply Carboline products. • Know how to use inspection equipment, surface preparation standards, etc. • Provide documentation for panels which will be tested.
Spray nuclear testing orders upon certification. • Responsible for maintaining a stock of standard panel systems. • Package and ship sample panels. • Understand basic coating technologies so that Carboline coatings can be properly applied and cured for sample panels, evaluations, field work, etc.
Be able to troubleshoot and correct coating and application problems. • Assist the R&D Department in application of new or revised product evaluations, new equipment evaluations, etc.
within capabilities. • Assist in performing application and equipment demonstrations for sales and customer schools or other in-house training on company products or equipment within capabilities. • Responsible for participating in the daily cleaning of the work area. • Take an active role in hazard recognition and injury prevention by following all safety rules & regulations and immediately report all injuries and incidents to your supervisor. • Basic computer skills using Microsoft Office, emails etc. • Follow all environmental rules and regulations to ensure hazardous materials and waste are managed in an environmentally responsible manner. • Receives annual training in RCRA Hazardous Waste and Carboline's Contingency Plan and will adhere to this training while performing their job. • Perform additional duties as assigned. • Commit to the Company's safety and quality programs.

Physical Requirements:
Lifting up to 50 pounds approximately 10% of the time; exposure to chemicals including but not limited to: Amines, Polyamides, Isocyanates, Epoxies, Alkyds, and Acrylics.
Must pass annual respirator medical evaluation and pulmonary function test as required by OSHA (respirator worn 20% of the time).
Able to operate, maintain, and repair equipment which includes handling, moving, and hand/eye coordination (approximately 35% of the time).
The equipment includes but is not limited to: airless pumps, blasting, welding, and power hand tools.

Position Summary:
Responsible for manufacturing at acceptably efficient levels, meeting production schedules, maintaining a clean and safe work environment, maintaining employee morale, and any employee relation issues.
Essential Functions:
Enforce safety regulations, investigate accidents, complete accident reports as required and eliminate potential and actual safety hazards. Maintain a complete understanding of emergency response plans in the event of spills or other similar disasters. Must adhere to the specific facilities safety process and procedures and follow all PPE requirements.
Report all safety injuries and incidents to your supervisor and EH&S department immediately. Ensure production quality expectations are met.
Responsible for understanding all aspects of production schedule.
Understand shift production requirements and hold daily meetings to share information with direct reports. Assign employees to specific work stations and tasks.
Advise management of equipment and staffing requirements. Maintain housekeeping standards. Interface with other supervisors on all operations, staffing, and miscellaneous issues. Run daily cycle counts. Assure the following shift is properly stocked with supplies and that materials are in sufficient quantities on the production floor to assure a smooth start-up. Responsible for ensuring ISO standards and procedures are followed.
Review and approve timecard hours in the timekeeping system by 8:30am every Monday morning.
Communicate improper equipment operation or downtime to maintenance and coordinate required repairs. Perform annual evaluations and administer training for production employees. Input inventory transactions and monitor LN for accuracy. Monitor employee performance, coach, council, motivate, and discipline as necessary. Secure and lock facility when applicable. Enforce all company policies and regulations. Follow all environmental rules and regulations to ensure hazardous materials and waste are managed in an environmentally responsible manner as required by procedure. Responsible for physical inventory, directs cycle counting, and full physical inventories when required. May be required to train and certify employees on proper use of forklifts. Perform additional duties as assigned. Commit to the Company's safety and quality programs.
Requirements:
High School Diploma or equivalent, or 2 years Supervisory or leadership experience in a manufacturing environment.
Bachelor's degree preferred. Ability to read and interpret documents such as procedure manuals, operating and maintenance manuals and safety rules.
Ability to use a computer for all company required processes, procedures, and trainings.
Physical Requirements:
Occasionally lifts, carries, and moves raw materials or company products weighing up to 100+ pounds.
Exposure to chemicals including but not limited to: Amines, Polyamides, Isocyanates, Epoxies, Alkyds, Acrylics, and certain inorganic compounds.
(Personal protective equipment would be utilized.) Standing/kneeling/walking/sitting on concrete for approximately 75% of workday.
May be required to operate fork-lift.

Minimum Requirements:

This Intern will work alongside our Continuous Improvement Manager, Plant Managers, and other CI personnel, reporting directly to the Continuous Improvement Manager, with dotted line of accountability to the local Plant Manager.
Minimum Requirements:
High School Diploma or GED, additionally the completion of at least 30 credit hours toward a degree in Industrial Engineering or a related field is desirable, but not essential.

Communicate improper equipment operation or downtime to maintenance and coordinate required repairs. Perform annual evaluations and administer training for production employees. Monitor employee performance, coach, council, motivate, and discipline as necessary. Secure and lock facility when applicable. Enforce all company policies and regulations. Job Overview:
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Chemical Process Engineer & Maintenance Leader to oversee and optimize chemical processes and ensure the reliability and efficiency of plant operations.
